Is Gun Confiscation Coming to Hawaii?

States are seen as the laboratories for democracy. They can be places to cite great public policy successes and highlight the many horrible failures. As more Democratic states adopt more anti-gun policies, there are fears that the groundwork for confiscation is being set. Of all places, you would think that California, or New York, would be the place that Second Amendment rights advocates fear would be the test area for such policies. Nope. It’s actually Hawaii. The Aloha State is the first in the country that requires its gun-owning residents to enter a federal database (via NRA Hunters):

Hawaii’s new law requires current and future gun owners to register in the FBI’s “Rap Back” system. The FBI calls it their Next Generation Identification Program, which is currently used to track the actions of people who are part of ongoing criminal investigations. If someone enrolled in the database has contact with law enforcement, an alert is issued through the FBI. Now the program will be used to track the actions of all law-abiding gun owners in Hawaii—and not just residents. SB 2954 requires law enforcement to request a “Rap Back” on anyone requesting a firearm license or registering a firearm. Translation: Hunters who intend to visit Hawaii to hunt will find themselves enrolled in an FBI database meant for criminals. Two other additions to the state’s gun control legislation are found in House Bill 2629. One prohibits anyone convicted of certain stalking offenses from owning firearms. The other requires law-abiding gun owners who have been diagnosed with “a significant behavioral, emotional or mental disorder, or due to emergency or involuntary admission to a psychiatric facility” to surrender their firearms and ammunition. If they do not comply, their local police chief can seize the guns and ammo.

The Japanese already own Hawaii. They are in all levels of government and business. From what I saw, they were also the most racist group in Hawaii, besides the Hawaiians. They looked down upon on other races, especially in employment.
I was born, raised, and spent most of my life in Hawaii, and I would never go back.

I like that logic, seeings as how the diabetes epidemic is the direct result of government and industry collusion to favor fast carbohydrates over a normal human diet to keep the major subsidy receivers growing.

Looks like we have yet another reason to get the government to step off gun regulation...

OK, question for the forum (an no wisecracks): AR vs. AK. vs. SKS. I am about to make a purchase, and as much as I am informed and experienced on vices and virtues of each, I value our 2nd Amendment Freepers' opinions very much, esp. my fellow vets. Budgetary concerns (my wife's) are in play here. Thank you.

The voters of Hawaii must not care.

Hawaii has a higher percentage of liberals than any other state.

was just three and a half years before the LBJ/CIA/Mafia coup in Dallas

Of course it was LBJ as you noted at the top. But the conspiracy could never have succeeded without Hoover's FBI. The FBI confiscated all of the Dallas evidence and forged/destroyed/created evidence as necessary to hide the truth. Hoover's FBI spoon fed everything the Warren Commission saw

At the top of the conspiracy to kill JFK was LBJ and Hoover.

As an aside, it has been proven that a conspiracy killed JFK. It uses evidence that most Americans are familiar with but like many other things coming out of the gubermint and repeated by the presstitutes, you shouldn't believe anything the US government says without intelligent verification. By that criteria, the presstitutes cannot verify anything.

Method to prove a conspiracy killed President Kennedy,, that also proves the US government forged significant amounts of evidence

No wisecracks?

Sheesh, forget it :-)

Seriously though, start a vanity thread, you've seem them before.

Put anything to do with "GUNS" in the thread title and before long you'll have multiple responses to your question.

But in response to your question:

Real Men Buy AR's. (and you can get them in multiple platforms and calibers.)

The interpretations of the law here, that started long before it was voted on, all said it only kicked in on new permit applications. Absolutely no mention of it affecting current owners. Of course, cops could use info on file and do it retroactively. There was enormous resistance and letter writing about this, but the politicians, as usual, just ignored the people.

The NRA may have a different take on it, they were silent during the bill process, only the local gun groups fought it.

Thanks for the on-the-scene info.

It's obvious all libs, whatever the state, want us disarmed.

They have no idea what the end consequences for them will be.

Aloha!

your name gets added into a federal database.

I believe that this item is in direct violation of existing federal law, the FOPA of 1985.

Crime in Hawaii is a lower level of violence than the mainland, so there is no pressing need to own a handgun.

OMG did you actually just say that!?

Are you saying that no one in Hawaii has even been assaulted, raped, or robbed?

Any level of criminal violence is sufficient to justify arming oneself, if one so chooses!

"No pressing need?"

Being a Free American is a "pressing" enough need to at least maintain the option of deciding to own a handgun, without being automatically registered by the government.

Everyone knows that registration is the first step towards confiscation. That principle will never change. Saying there "no pressing need" is tantamount to saying that one should expect to defend themselves with their bare hands, if criminally assaulted. Or should people be required to use a spear like King Kamehameha wielded?

I'm sorry, but "no pressing need" is a classic argument of the authoritarian anti-gun crowd. It's why the middle class denizens of New York City are denied carry permits, and are therefore left at the mercy of criminals.

Now, even though there are doubtless fewer criminals in Hawaii, I would rather not be at the mercy of even one of them...

Vote Trump!

Lighten up.
What I am saying is Hawaii does not have strong 2nd Amendment views because culturally, guns were never a part of Hawaii heritage.
I lived in Hawaii, and owned guns only because my husband shot competitively. I never felt the need to own guns to protect myself. Violent crime in Hawaii is not like the violent crime in the mainland. Here, in the mainland, I have a loaded gun in a thumb safe next to my bedside.
Hawaii does not have Obamas kids running around in gangs. The tweakers are not armed.
If people do not feel the need to own a handgun, they are not going to pay 3-500 for one. That is why no one protests in Hawaii about second amendment rights, no matter how loudly you may scream about it .
