Charles Lane is a columnist for the Washington Post, which is about as in the tank for Hillary as any media outlet not spelled CNN. As such, he probably sees his role as a participant on any Fox News panel as balancing his conservative counterparts - in this case, Charles Krauthammer and Tucker Carlson.
That’s fair enough. It probably is what Fox wants him to do. But it’s one thing to provide balanced based on a bona fide different point of view compared to your counterparts. It’s another thing to reach for any rejoinder, no matter how absurd, because you just can’t bring yourself to admit what’s obviously true.

I said to Mrs Dad last night when I heard it, Was Trump supposed to know that? I wasn’t aware he was also receiving classified e-mails while she was getting them too. I also wondered why Charles or Tucker Carlson didn’t ask him to explain it more.

From what we know of Trump, the first time he’d see a “C” in an email, he’s ask what it it, what it means, why it’s there. And, he wouldn’t be too arrogant to go to the briefings on security, he’d welcome them.
Trump would have taken the training when it was offered and required.
I, myself, am taking right now 6 required “continuing education classes” that are required to keep my licenses .... even though I have been in my business for almost 40 years.
If I don’t take the classes, that take away my licenses. That is what should have happened to Hillary. I would never think of lying about the test requirements.
Hillary knew exactly what the “C” and all other confidential markings meant...She just didn’t give a crap...

Hillary received training about how the classification system works.
She says she didn’t remember getting that training, yet the State Department has her signature on a document acknowledging that she did receive the training.
Obviously, this is why she stated that she didn’t send out anything that was “marked” classified “at the time.”
