The Tesla is a great example of attacking an engineering problem from all angles. Lightweight construction, efficient powertrain design, and range comparable to a conventional auto is no small feat.

The current hurdle is the cost of the technology. Just like big screen TV’s, smart phones, and other leading edge technology, the price will drop once the manufacturing processes and supply chains are worked out.

The first automobiles were rich men’s toys. Henry Ford came up with a solution to that, and made them affordable to the masses.

Ingenuity and capitalism at its finest.
