Obamacare is unsustainable — the backbone could collapse, expert warns
CNBC ^ | August 17, 2016 | Abigail Stevenson

If politicians don't fix the Affordable Care Act, then the vulnerable Blue Cross and local HMO plans — which serve as the backbone of Obamacare — must exit, said Robert Laszewski, the President of Health Policy and Strategy Associates.

"What the politicians need to do is to understand they have got about a year to fix this," he said in an interview with CNBC's "Closing Bell."

Republicans do not want to fix the existing flaws for Obamacare, Laszewski said. Instead, they want to repeal and replace it. He added that Democrats are now stating that they would rather go to a single-payer insurance plan or a public option within a government-run plan.

Thus, the political system remains fragmented. Laszewski added that regardless of the outcome of the 2016 presidential election, the Republicans won't have enough votes to repeal or replace Obamacare. Likewise, Democrats won't have the votes to pass a public or single-payer option....

The best possible replacement is freedom. Get rid of government mandates, and let us choose how to spend our money.

She doesn’t have to worry about cancelling Obamacare.

Surety profits end Jan 1, 2017 and insurance companies will exit the market completely, leaving you no choices and no coverage.

Good news! You will still be cared for under pre-existing laws and maybe live a long life....

I DISAGREE, If President Trump issued an Executive Order requiring ALL FEDERAL EMPLOYEES to Purchase their own Health Insurance from the Affordable Care Act Exchange in their State, watch it get repealed overnight.

[[Obamacare is unsustainable — the backbone could collapse, expert warns]]

Working as intended .
They did not want it to work from the start.
They want to run it themselves so they can choose who gets
treatment and who does not.

They don’t care your that your grandma needs a pacemaker or that your grandpa needs heart surgery . Think of how much money they save by refusing it and handing them a pain pill .They need them dead and their wisdom gone to carry out their plans they need a young dumb population . Think of how much they will save on social security by letting grandma and grandpa die .

Oh they will pay for all their birth control , abortions and transgender surgeries etc because they needs a young stupid population that is confused and willing to give up all their freedom to feed their lusts.

Obamacare was created to fail so that everyone would clamor for single payer and federal control and no insurance companies in medicine.

The best you’re ging to get is back to private with companies allowed to cross state lines and more competition. Then the poor will get some form of federal coverage. If we could get illegals out that would keep the costs lower. If Hillary gets in. it will be all national care.

Unsustainable from the beginning based purely on the problem of pre-existing conditions. You cannot have an insurance system that does not consider the issue. Without a lawful way of coercing payment out of every single person under the umbrella of the insurance system how do you pay for such a system? How on earth that escaped the minds of those building the new program, in a way overlooking 200 years of insurance history, should lead us to the conclusion they were either completely stupid, or they thought we the people were completely stupid. They also knew they could not legally at the time coerce payment for such a system, so the question remains what was in it for them to propose the system and attempt to hoodwink the American pubic, when out of the box it was simply unsustainable?

#EXEMPTthieves

The EXEMPT should be punished with loss of all their medical care, and assets and pensions.

Jonathan Gruber’s latest research undercuts Hillary Clinton’s policy agenda

MAY 27, 2016

MIT economist Jonathan Gruber (yes, that Jonathan Gruber) is the co-author of a paper which finds there were long-term negative effects for some children after the introduction of a universal child care program in Quebec. The Christian Post reports:

In a paper recently published by the National Bureau of Economic Research, Gruber et al. studied increased childcare access in Quebec and found it to be detrimental to child development.

“We first confirm earlier findings showing reduced contemporaneous non-cognitive development following the program introduction in Quebec, with little impact on cognitive test scores,” reads the abstract for the study.

“We then show these non-cognitive deficits persisted to school ages, and also that cohorts with increased child care access subsequently had worse health, lower life satisfaction, and higher crime rates later in life. The impacts on criminal activity are concentrated in boys.”
The National Bureau of Economic Research described the results of a previous paper (by the same three authors covering the same general topic) this way [emphasis added]:

In Universal Childcare, Maternal Labor Supply, and Family Well-Being (NBER Working Paper No. 11832), authors Michael Baker, Jonathan Gruber, and Kevin Milligan measure the implications of universal childcare by studying the effects of the Quebec Family Policy. Beginning in 1997, the Canadian province of Quebec extended full-time kindergarten to all 5-year olds and included the provision of childcare at an out-of-pocket price of $5 per day to all 4-year olds. This $5 per day policy was extended to all 3-year olds in 1998, all 2-year olds in 1999, and finally to all children younger than 2 years old in 2000. Since welfare reform and other changes were occurring for single mothers over this time period, the authors focus on the effects of this policy on the married and cohabiting women and their children who received most of the new subsidies under this policy. They use data from the National Longitudinal Study of Canadian Youth (NLSCY), a large longitudinal survey of children inside and outside of Quebec, to develop the first comprehensive analysis of a universal subsidized childcare program, following its impact from childcare use through employment and finally to children’s and parent’s outcomes.

[…]

Disturbingly, the authors report that children’s outcomes have worsened since the program was introduced along a variety of behavioral and health dimensions. The NLSCY contains a host of measures of child well being developed by social scientists, ranging from aggression and hyperactivity, to motor-social skills, to illness. Along virtually every one of these dimensions, children in Quebec see their outcomes deteriorate relative to children in the rest of the nation over this time period. Their results imply that this policy resulted in a rise of anxiety of children exposed to this new program of between 60 percent and 150 percent, and a decline in motor/social skills of between 8 percent and 20 percent. These findings represent a sharp break from previous trends in Quebec and the rest of the nation, and there are no such effects found for older children who were not subject to this policy change.

I firmly believe this is a VERY BIG issue with voters, and the GOP has been completely asleep on this issue for several decades.

A very, very long time.

Obamacare stood up and addressed all of the people who were not covered. There were a BUNCH of them. Now you want to throw it away?

For what?

What does the GOP have, to replace it with?

What?

The GOP had all of the time in the world. Several administrations. Congress. Everything. So what did they do?

What did they do?

What?

AMEN. If all Federal employees had to do it from the beginning, we never would have had Obamacare to begin with.
