The govt of Libya some months ago called for Russian help to combat IS (as did other governments, like Yemen, Iraq and Afghanistan - in real or by threat)
Almost everywhere you see stepped up US military ops is a desperate attempt by the neocon war hawks (can’t believe I am now embracing that term) to forestall the Russians from being invited to do the job, as they were in Syria
As a side mission our guys are probably PROTECTING the worst of the worst IS guys and recruits who fled to Libya from Syria to escape the Russians. You have to be a threat to a Clinton to get hunted down and killed
