A short note here- I learned about The Great Leap Foward when I was about 10 yrs old from a story about 2 sisters with their mother who were rounded up & made to labor in fields.
Suffice to say- they escaped China and them came to the US as refugees. Both graduated from colleges in the US and went on to have successful careers.
