Chelsea Manning may face charges relating to a suicide attempt this year, which could lead to indefinite solitary confinement or transferral to a maximum-security facility, according to a civil rights group.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) announced on Thursday that Manning, who is serving a 35-year sentence in military custody for leaking state secrets to the whistleblowing site WikiLeaks, was under investigation for three charges related to her 5 July suicide attempt: “resisting the force cell move team”, “prohibited property”, and “conduct which threatens”.
Manning confirmed through her lawyers in July that she was receiving medical care after having tried to take her own life.
If convicted of these new “administrative offenses”, she faces punishment that could include solitary confinement for the rest of her sentence, reclassification as a maximum-security prisoner, and an addition of nine years to her sentence. It might also negate her possibility of parole, according to the ACLU.
“It is deeply troubling that Chelsea is now being subjected to an investigation and possible punishment for her attempt to take her life,” ACLU staff attorney Chase Strangio said in a press release....

Indefinite solitary confinement? I wouldn’t wish that on anybody. They are better off just executing him and being done with it. He was already pretty loosely wired as it is.

Didn’t fringe candidate Gary Johnson just say that he was open to pardoning Manning?
Just give him the operation and put him in a men’s prison. There he can get all he wants.

i think, tho, that sometimes we should just go easier on people who are so incredibly mixed up....
maybe this is just a wimpy idea, but.. well, people who have that many problems already...... maybe we can lighten up a bit about dumping more problems on them? its not like we don’t have real IslamoNazi terrorist gangster murderers to go after, that we have all this extra time and energy to add to the charges of someone who is already locked up?

I’d request it, demand it and raise hell until I got it.
I am no mans toy, no govt toy and I will make them spend extra time and money on me until they would be forced to kill me rather than pay or spend time to keep me alive. I’d even make it difficult to kill me, just to piss them off.
On the other hand that little clown... the solitary itself will probably kill him... too bad he had “Intent” (unlike Hillary) otherwise he could run for President, have his Clearance and pay for his own damned Sex Change, but NOOOO We have to pay for it.
Suicide rates among the LGBTXYZ crowd is very high. Plus “We The People” have been forced to pay for its sexual mutilation by insane judges.

Even if he were surgically mutilated and pumped up with hormones, he would still be a guy.
His genes don’t lie. And regardless of what is done to him, his body remains male down to its tiniest molecular details.
Regarding the title of this article: this guy never did anything right, did he?

I might tend to agree, if he wasn’t trying (with some degree of success) to bully the rest of us into sharing his mental illness.
Try reading a lengthy article about him, in which the author refers to him with feminine pronouns.
As you’re reading, do you mentally translate every “she” and “her” into “he” and “him,” to remain mindful of the fact that he is male? If you read it as is, by the time you get to the end, do you have to remind yourself that he’s male?
As for me, I mentally translate all the feminine pronouns to masculine. The problem is that if there are actual females in the story, I risk translating them into males, out of habit.
He actually went to court, and obtained an order for the military to use feminine or gender neutral pronouns in reference to him. That’s got to screw with the minds of people who know better. You might as well force someone to say that people have gills to breathe under water, and wings to fly. Not only make them say it over and over, but never say anything to contradict it. It’s bad enough being lied to, but being forced to tell the lie yourself is unbearable.
I don’t go along with taunting people for their weaknesses, or doling out extrajudicial punishment to the most offensive prisoners, but I do go along with standing up to bullies like Bradley Manning.
