I believe she was told they’d nuke Germany or something on that scale, dirty bomb etc. Just before the craziness on her part - she was photographed grey with shock, stunned beyond words - and then all these caving began. I don’t know that their threats were genuine, but I thought at the time that she believed them. But what choice is that? Cave and be destroyed or...be destroyed?

Even if the WMD threats ( http://www.dw.com/en/intelligence-agency-dirty-bomb-threat-growing/a-1771669 ) were legit (a BIG ‘if’) and a dirty nukes or bio/chem weapons were unleashed, they’d survive. And if they had the guts (a BIGGER ‘if’) to retaliate and really take the fight the enemy, they’d win.
But if they cave (which they pretty much already did), then they’ll be destroyed for sure, in the most humiliating fashion imaginable.
