ONLY under Der Bama.
He'd surrender DC and the Pentagram if he could.

Parliament has enabled him to issue decrees that have the force of law without judicial or even parliamentary approval.
NATO was founded when another autocrat was given powers like this had been defeated.

When does the Incirlik Airlift begin? Why aren’t flying in supplies to the base, if necessary, under cover of aircraft from our carriers in the eastern Med?

Only in Barak Obama’s America would an America air base located inside the borders of Turkey and about 30 miles of the Mediterranean coast equipped with dozens of A-10 ground attack aircraft and F-16, F-15 nuclear capable fighter aircraft armed with 50 thermonuclear weapons and backed by the combined strength of the entire US Military in the region including Naval Aircraft Carriers and Marine Assault Ships just off shore be considered under siege and at risk by Turkey.
Seems to me, in a normal world, Turkey is the one who had the problem and should be the worried party. There was a really easy way to dispose of any MK 61 nuclear bombs at Incirlik on very short notice and that disposal method is one which Turkey would not like one bit.
Under any other American President, Turkey would begging for our forgiveness for even inconveniencing Americans stationed in Turkey and if they so much as made any threats towards the base Turkey's military would cease to exist.

The author states as of the writing on July 23, “There is little indication when power will be restored.”
Power was restored to the base on July 22.

Erdogan’s supports are Islamists who’ve been suppressed and the worst of the worst are probably now just emerging.
The perimeter of the base is guarded by the Turk military. As I’ve said before, Erdogan may be struggling to appear aggressive enough for zealots that have been suppressed for a CENTURY.
So...let’s say a crowd of protestors numbering 5, 8 or 10,000 decide to march on the airbase spurred on by some Imam. What do the Turk’s guarding the parimeter do, given their resistance could get them killed on the spot.
This could quickly get beyond Erdogan’s control.
