Can’t Moochelle just issue an executive order?

Unreal. My doctor told me to stay away from starchy carbs - bread, pasta, rice, potatoes...lost 50 lbs with a simple walking routine. The second I started eating them again I gained weight. I’m back to avoiding them but it’s hard. Many restaurants bring warm bread to start by default. I never knew I could crave warm bread...

Fried starchy carbs are even worse, especially when chugged down with a really sugary drink! So a burger, fries and coke is probably the last thing you should consume.

It isn’t the meat. As for exercise, our culture, outside of large cities, just isn’t oriented around walking. In smaller cities the zoning means you can’t have a “local store” within a short walk. I have to drive, I’m not going to walk 2 miles (total) to get something simple. I also wish my subdivision could have a pub in the middle of it, it allows people to have a couple of drinks and walk home. Our structure encourages drunk driving.

Meat is grown on land that would produce small yields of grain products.

Corn in particular likes very black, rich dirt.

I don’t think it’s funny to be under the tyranny of the mostly unconstitutional $4 trillion central government who thinks they can do whatever they want. They continue to violate our freedoms and threaten our lives. It’s not a call to parrot their stupidity, but a call to action to destroy the greater part of this Beast.

Total BS. Everyone knows the cause of obesity is the humble “sugary soft drink,” like those you see touted in commercials by trim, fit professional athletes. Of course, we could expand background checks to all meat purchases, and ban any high-capacity meat storage lockers.

And why would the government do that? Because it can.

We, as humans, are still carnivores. I don’t tell you to eat wheatgerm, don’t tell me to not eat meat. Stay out of my dining room and I’ll stay out of yours. That’s one of the reasons they put walls up on out houses. So you can’t see what I’m doing. Thank you.

The bureaucrat was concerned that the healthier protein based food sources would break the food stamp budget.

He who pays the bill decides what shall be paid for. Think about that when you think of "single-payer" medicine.

Nothing new under the sun....

Yup. Unfortunately, the rest of us who were paying our own bills were mislead and like good happy citizen lemmings, walked off of the cliff with the rest.

The bureaucrats whine and complain about how obese Americans are yet they don't make the connection to a heavily grain based, carb heavy diet and diabetes and obesity.

My wife and I are on a low carb diet (meat protein etc. and fat) and we have never felt better plus we are losing weight. Slamming the pancreas with bursts of sugars (complex and otherwise) has to be hard on it. Plus the weight gain doesn't help.

It is completely counter intuitive but it works.

The WaPo and Beltway mindset, always
“SHOULD THE GOVERNMENT STEP IN?”

No, you need to reposition "Should" as follows; "THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD STEP IN!” and, obviously replace the '?'(query) with '!'(command). Remember you are writing about the US Government STATIST house newspaper of misrule!

This was known to The Founders and was why they started with the minimalist "Articles of Confederation" before moving on to the "Constitution". Government, by its NATURE, is interventionist and intrusive, unless kept under restraint! The US Constitution did an admirable job in that restraint for about 150 years. Then air conditioning was invented and government became a year-round enterprise. Add the Great Depression, FDR and WW2 to get us on the primrose path to Hades!

It is completely counter intuitive but it works.

Nothing counterintuitive about eating something that satisfies. Cheap carbs don't -- you never get "enough" of them once you're hooked.

Was in the hospital recently, and they briefly put me on that sham "cardio" diet. I refuse to taste ersatz "eggs", although I did eat the turkey links (meh). We told them, either I get real food or I don't eat. After all, I've eaten bacon and egg biscuits for breakfast routinely for >30 years.

Good thing my arteries don't show the slightest bit of atherosclerosis. Otherwise, I probably couldn't have pressed that point home. "Cardio" diet, my pasty white....

(Now I'm ranting. Need a steak or a ham sandwich, that should help....)

I’ve been on the LCHF diet for about 3 months. I am type 2 diabetic. One month into the diet, I dropped my A1C 3 points. I feel better, lost weight, blood sugar is under betting control. Low carbs is the key.

Liberals want to tell us what to eat.

Because they know how to plan our lives better we could plan them for ourselves.

Today, its meat. Tomorrow?

Yup.

I hate food micromanagement from the Right, too.

My body, my choice, my life.

Never let a good “crisis” go to waste.

Honestly, the list of ways the government could go dictatorial in the name of saving the earth is near limitless by now. I’m sure they’d even find a way to justify summary execution.

And I’m willing to bet this “obesity epidemic” is caused more by promoting living off of others than simply eating meat.
