“...George Wallace carried five southern states [in 1968] and came as close to throwing the damn election into the House as anyone had in 100 years.”
At least we didn’t have four more years of Landslide Lyndon.
And GW’s running mate was Gen. Curtis LeMay. I always thought that added to the ticket. Gen. Mike Lynch may be Trump’s VP now.

Lyndon wasn’t running in 1968, Humphrey was the nominee.

You got that right. I can only imagine what could have happened to America if that bastard LBJ had managed to get another term, omg.

It did. LeMay was a giant among military thinkers, and ironically, Governor Wallace served UNDER LeMay in the Pacific during World War II. They were already acquainted with each other.
Gen. Mike Lynch may be Trumps VP now.
Remains to be seen, Lynch has made statements that appear to mean he is pro-choice, instead of pro-life, and regardless of his military credentials and the fact that he was forced out by Obama, his stock here at FR has already plummeted.
I suggested a long time ago that General Peter Pace (USMC-retired), former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs during the Bush years would be a fantastic choice but that idea hasn't gotten any traction at all.
I'm going to ping FReeper LS (who is rumored to have 'connections' lol) to maybe put a bug in somebody's ear about Pace.
Let's try this again, for some reason my post #226 got zapped, not sure if it was due to the picture image, or to the 'blackfive' URL.
