"Back when Bill was governor of Arkansas, I think his salary was low, in the area of $30,000 a year I think?"

Yes, that's why po' Hillary made her fortune (cough, bribe to the governor, cough) in cattle futures, so that the Clinton's could live in the style they "deserved".

Politicians never cease to amaze me in their greed.

Our pay is so low, we HAVE to take bribes, so we need a much higher salary...

Paul LePage of Maine is a good outspoken governor and his wife reflects the work ethic of LePage.

I put this woman’s husband on my list of VP candidates.

A state governor has many expenses that you and I probably don’t. $70,000 seems awfully low in the year 2016.

So in other words, there is one public official out there getting the right amount of pay, I assume?

A state governor has the governor’s mansion and staff at state expense. Absent cost of housing, $70K in Maine isn’t bad money at all. While I applaud his wife’s willingness to take a job that very few political wives would ever deign to do, it comes off as being a little politically motivated.

Maybe, but think about it. A good waitress can bring in more business, creating more staff jobs overall. Is she that good? Does she have a great personality? I don’t know. But it’s part of the calculus.

Or it could be a feather-bedding job, but those jobs aren’t typically waitressing.

Yeah, well wait until the lobbyists start going to the restaurant and leaving some really fat cash tips in envelopes. RAV4 my backside.

Good article.

This same governor (LePage) recently said he knows absolutely, that
Cruz is not a natural born USA citizen, because LePage's own daughters, born while the LePage family temporarily lived in Canada, had to be NATURALIZED when the family moved back to the US.

Both Cankles and Moochelle are attorneys..

Actually Moochbacca resigned her bar membership rather than face disciplinary hearings.

That would be around 67K today. Not when all the other perks are thrown in. Housing, travel, free meals and armed guards.

They were so broke that they went and bought that compound in Chappaqua. Dead broke to them is rich as Crocus to us.

She was a crony law partner at the Rose Law Firm. Her job was making sure Rose Law received millions in government contracts.

jobs are very hard to come by in Maine so she is taking a job that might have gone to someone who really needs it.

There are plenty of jobs in Maine during the summer. The place is crawling with tourists. Anybody who really wants to work should be able to find a job.

The unemployment rate there is probably high because so many of them in Maine get paid under the table. When the governor required welfare recipients to either go to school or do volunteer work for 20 hours a week the welfare rolls were more than cut in half. That's because many on welfare were really working and not reporting their income.
