Entitlements are “the realities of how people live now” and “necessities of a 21st century economy,” so “we’ve got to retool our system,” Pres. Obama declared Tuesday.

Speaking at the White House Summit on the United State of Women, Obama said America has “got to retool our system,” because guaranteed benefits are a vital and immutable way of life …

Until taxes are astronomically high the government runs out of money...then what?
Liberals are not very good at math. Math is hard and liberals avoid, like the plague, anything that is difficult. Therefore, it follows that liberals spout such unsupportable demands because they cannot "do" math, reality, etc.
They are convinced of the existence of pixie dust and unicorns.

I see it more as FDR advocating big government works programs to employee people, not unlike what the Nazis were doing at the time. And back then people did envy what Hitler was doing.

Forgot to mention: The context of the Star Wars quote was Palpatine (then chancellor of the Old Republic, before he turns it into the Empire) responding to the Galactic Senate voting him emergency powers to allow him to create an army of clones by executive fiat.

because guaranteed benefits are a vital and immutable way of life …

redistribution as a way of life means economic stagnation, or worse decline and decay, or even mass poverty and hellholism.

“necessities of a 21st century economy”

Perhaps we should try for a 20th century economy.

The 1920’s were good for just about everyone except overindebted farmers.

Truman’s economy worked fairly well.

The early 1960’s under Kennedy were peaceful and prosperous.

Unless you overpaid for Internet stocks, the 1990’s under Hillary’s husband were fairly decent.

Things were pretty good under Reagan.

“We should guarantee paid maternity leave and paid paternity leave, too.”

Why aren’t people able to save their own money to pay for things they want in your economy President Obama?

Should we be paying people to make babies who can’t afford themselves to either save for maternity leave(or a child)?

Do we want to make baby-making into a cash-generating enterprise for the feckless?

Taxpayer paid-paternity/maternity leave assumes they are going back to work.

How would they pay for child care (sometimes $900/month/kid)when they can’t together even save $4,000 over two to fifteen years to say take two months off?

“we’ve got to retool our system”

Well then people will just have to change the way they live. People made their own way before, and one way or another, they are going to be forced to do so again. Entitlements are unsustainable and as such they are going away eventually. Present-day Venezuela is the end state of 0bamanomics.

Dear Respectable Middle Class Person/Family:

Some other people would like to have time off from work.

Please pay us for their lifestyle decision.

My Father told me when I was 13 Years Old that nobody owed me a Living. Looks like I’ve been living a Lie for 50 Years.

Should Hillary or any other DemoncRat win the Presidency this November, I will make it my Life’s ambition to become a Ward of the State. I’ve been a sucker long enough.

If you can’t beat them, force their hand.

Hey Obama - I have an entitlement to live in a rich neighborhood that looks like the film set to a Beaver Cleaver rerun. Get cracking on it.

I literally cannot tell you how glad I am to have grown up in the 90’s in the last good economic times America probably will have for quite awhile. My family was lower-middle class but my bedroom looked like a toystore by the time I moved out. Our neighborhood was so peaceful that criminal incidents in 10 years could be counted on your two hands. Our worst ‘hardships’ were postage stamp yards and sharing a bedroom, dealt with by mom telling us to go to play at one of the three parks in easy walking distance.

By contrast a lot of my peers now grew up during 2000-2010 and have little if any memories of when things didn’t suck due to the dot-com bubble popping and/or our pathetic response to 9/11 resulting in a ruinously expensive and ineffective occupation. They pretty much didn’t get to see the good times at all.
