The unending treachery of the “conservative” GOP
The Coach's Team ^ | 6/18/16 | Doug Book, Editor

We’re long past being surprised by the perfidy of Republican politicians who would rather celebrate the 2016 election of another radical leftist than support Donald Trump. In March, Mitt Romney said Trump was “…unworthy of the office of president of the United States.” This from the 2012 Party nominee who was too submissive to campaign against the treachery of an America-hating, Marxist Muslim and the most dishonest individual to ever occupy the White House.

In August of last year, Daily Caller contributor Brian Joondeph wrote of then GOP golden boy Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton: “They both want to grow government, keep our borders open, nationalize education through Common Core, tweak but keep Obamacare in place. They could even run on the same ticket.” Of the GOP hierarchy itself, Joondeph was correct in stating: “This establishment wants a party nominee who will go along to get along, reach across the aisle, build consensus and keep the Chamber of Commerce happy. This is a proven model for electoral success. Just ask former Presidents Dole, McCain, and Romney.”

The GOP demands unconditional surrender to forces which revere servitude to the status quo; not because it leads to national prosperity, but because it is safe. The political power base is maintained, nothing is put at risk and all is right with the world.

This puts Trump ideologically at odds with Republican Party leaders for he is unwilling to bow and scrape before the ruling class—the sovereign overlords of the DC “Uniparty.”

Trump has been rewarded time and again for doing what he believes to be right. That, however, makes for an unpredictable nature which frightens the hell out of DC demagogues. After all, the time honored traditions of vote buying and political corruption have...

I think both of you may be misconstruing VerySadAmerican’s comment; He’s quoting “conservative” in the context of “adding” Cruz’s “conservative” bonafides along with those of the other so-called conservative Republicans who oppose supporting Trump.

When Cruz endorses Trump as he vowed he would do at the beginning of the primary, venting against Cruz will stop.

The GOP is the conservative party. If you don’t like conservatives then you are in the wrong party.

The Conservative Movement™ is globalist economics and transnational political arrangements wrapped in our beautiful flag, to fool the voters.

I’d prefer to identify my self as an “American Patriot”. The left hates American patriots

+1

The "Republican vs. Democrat" thing is a scam, like the old "Spy vs. Spy" cartoon in Mad magazine:

The war is Americans vs. globalists. My only disagreement with you is that there are Americans who are leftists (union rank and file, mostly) and many, many rightists who are globalist to the core.

It's like the old Russian joke about the farmer and the bird: "He who puts you in the sh*t is not necessarily your enemy, and he who takes you out is not necessarily your enemy".

As opposed to the communist party? In comparison I suppose they may seem conservative to an uninformed and casual non voter with severe head trauma.

“The GOP is the conservative party. If you don’t like conservatives then you are in the wrong party.”

Since when has the GOP been conservative? The Bushes, Dole, McCain, Romney? Those are the liberal buffoons that the GOP has forced on us as Presidential nominees.

I have been eligible to vote since December of ‘89. Those losers have been the GOP “conservatives” I’ve had to hold my nose & vote for, shamefully.

GOP, conservative?? Hilarious.

So, you think Cruz has changed his mind and doesn’t want to stop Trump?

Cruz said he would support the nominee. Trump is the presumptive nominee. Until Trump closes the deal, he is in the lead with just a victory lap left... but stranger things have happened... When Trump is the nominee, I expect Cruz to at least give a verbal nod of approval.

I’ll be amazed if the personal attacks stop. Some people on here seem to have made it their religion.

We had 49 dead Americans a week ago in the worst terrorist attack since 9/11 on American soil. And you think now is a good time to play political footsie? How patriotic of you.

Cruz intentionally poisoned the well with his day of withdrawal tantrum. Then shortly after he bizarrely threatened to jump back in the race. Now he is leaving Trump at the altar and campaigning for ANOTHER candidate for office next week. There is a lot more but you should get the point: Ted Cruz has earned every bit of return fire he has gotten since “suspending” his campaign.

Rules matter, he doesn’t have the crown yet. He has the delegates, he is the presumptive nominee. I plan to vote for him, but I won’t call him what he isn’t yet.

So your “PERIOD” may be “PERIOD” to you, but for those of us able to read convention rules and understand the process... not so much.

Has nothing to do with the rules of the convention. It is a tragedy, but trying to use a tragedy to justify completely non-related things is a liberal move.

“Cruz intentionally poisoned the well with his day of withdrawal tantrum.”
Yes, I saw the interview on CNN where Cruz stated that he intentionally tried to piss off Lodi... hail Trump!

“Then shortly after he bizarrely threatened to jump back in the race. Now he is leaving Trump at the altar and campaigning for ANOTHER candidate for office next week. And you are helping to earn Trump weak support from the base. I plan to vote for Trump, but I know many people looking at the libertarian candidate because of nuts like you who poorly represent your presumptive nominee. Do your candidate a favor and pretend to be a grown up for a few months... Hopefully that will be enough to stop Hillary.

I believe Cruz should endorse Trump now. I believe he is ruining any chances of having any political gain for holding out his endorsement, regardless of convention rules. I know the longer he and Ryan waits, Hillary has more of a chance of winning. Many people, including myself will despise Cruz and Ryan for that.

I thought Cruz was a wash-up with no political future... yet Trump “needs” his endorsement? Even though I hear over and over on FR that Trump needs neither Cruz nor his supporters? Which is it?

I want Trump to win so that Hillary does not, but his political style of personal destruction does tend to leave bridges burnt and tough to repair...
