Trump Calls for Surveillance of Mosques, Muslims After Orlando Massacre
Sputnik US ^ | June 13, 2016

The US has the capability to prevent terrorist attacks such as the nightclub massacre in the US state of Florida but opposition from US officials, including President Barack Obama, to mosque surveillance robs law-enforcement of needed intelligence, presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said in a television interview on Monday.

In his presidential campaign, Trump has advocated monitoring mosques and Muslim communities to identify individuals who are being radicalized to commit terrorist attacks.

"We need more intelligence, we need a stronger intelligence community," Trump told Fox News. "Obama won’t do that because he doesn’t want to single out this group."

On Sunday, US national Omar Mateen killed 49 people and injured 53 others at Pulse gay nightclub in Orlando. The Orlando massacre has become the deadliest mass shooting in the history of the United States, surpassing the death toll from the 2007 incident at Virginia Tech university, which claimed 32 lives.

While commenting on a massacre of at least 50 people at a gay nightclub in the US state of Florida, Trump was especially critical of a 2014 decision by New York City Mayor Mayor Bill de Blasio to dismantle a police department agency known as the "Demographics Unit."

"In New York City we had a fantastic intelligence group set up. When our mayor, our new mayor de Blasio… wiped it all out, it was the best in the country," Trump said. "So now we don’t know what’s going on."

The Demographics Unit sent plainclothes officers into Muslim neighborhoods to monitor conversations. In the process, the agency created detailed files on Muslims, including where they ate, shopped and worshipped.

At the time, de Blasio said disbanding the unit was necessary to restore trust between the police and communities.

Today I was at the YMCA for my lunch workout; they had MSNBC on in the locker room (yes, I know, but I can't switch it every day) and even MSNBC was live with Trump. While the bottom screen crawl was anti-Trump, they still were covering his remarks live.

Thrust of Trump's remarks was that political correctness is killing Americans. Powerful stuff.

IIRC, Richard Clarke said this was not allowed by law. IIRC, It would be considered a warrantless search.

it’s not a religion, but a world-domination movement cleverly disguised as a religion.
*****************
It is incompatible with every other government and religion... it is hostile and has been since it’s founding. It does not qualify for protection as a religion by our constitution.

So far compare.

The left says ban guns, blame Christians and americans for the attack, say nothing about yet another muslim terrorist doing jihad in ramadan killing gays he hates.

The repubs are out there doing nothing as usual, nope, they have their hands in their pants doing nothing useful for us.

Trump says the common sense stuff we all know that our uniparty repubs will not dare utter.

Anybody ever notice that for all his faults, after 9/11 we had no further terror attacks on US soil during Bush's adminstration. Since Obama took over we've had three (Fort Hood, San Bernardino, Orlando). Each bigger than the last. And the official reaction in all cases has been to try to spin it as nothing special.

Weakness is noticed.
