Top Gun Lobbyist: If GOP Loses SCOTUS, We Might ‘Have To Resort To Bullet Box’
Talking Points Memo's Livewire ^ | June 1, 2016 | Katherine Krueger

The former head of an influential pro-gun lobbying group said over the weekend that losing the White House could mean pro-gun activists “have to resort to the bullet box” to protect the Second Amendment.

In a conversation on his “Gun Owners News Hour,” Larry Pratt, executive director emeritus of Gun Owners of America, interviewed Robert Knight, a fellow at the conservative American Civil Rights Union, who said a Democrat taking the White House and replacing the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia would pose “great peril” to gun rights.

“At that point, we would have to come to an understanding, which we’ve been sort of taught, it’s been taught out of us, that the courts do not have the last word on what the Constitution is,” Pratt said on the show, in remarks first flagged by RightWingWatch.

“And we may have to reassert that constitutional balance, and it may not be pretty," he continued. "So, I’d much rather have an election where we solve this matter at the ballot box than have to resort to the bullet box.”

Knight replied, “Well, there’s impeachment, too.”

Pratt previously made veiled references to gun violence as the leader of Gun Owners of America. He once said “the Second Amendment was designed for people” like President Obama and recently made a similar remark about Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Merrick Garland.

The NRA leadership had to be dragged, kicking and screaming, to where they are today, by the membership.

GOA is a significant part of what pushed the NRA to becoming pro-active instead of fighting continual rear-guard actions.

I support the NRA. They have come a long ways. But they had to be dragged there by the membership.

There is 100 MILLION hunters in the USA. There is no way they could all be covered in one operation. What are they going to do with the ones who resist? Old war vets are a particularly ornery group when it comes to taking their firearms away from them.

If our overlords start to suggest that they are going to demand that we must surrender our firearms, a single bullet through the front doors of their offices, the side window of their cars and/or the front doors of their homes will change the subject of discussion around their dinner table that evening.

Their wives will tell them to back off and stop endangering the family security in no uncertain terms.

May I suggest possible targets? Any elected or appointed official. Do not aim for uniformed personnel unless they are the leader of the group.

Don’t pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he’ll just kill you”—John Steinbeck

Travis McGee: If the SCOTUS tries to use lies to disarm us, they are traitors, and they are in breach of contract.

factoryrat: The only way that this will be resolved is when people are stripped of their jobs, their homes, and are starving.

No, there is another way.
