New York will allow some illegal immigrants to teach and practice medicine throughout the state beginning June 1, the Associated Press reported.
The states licensing board the Board of Regents voted Tuesday to accept applications from people with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status.

An application to the state licensing board is much longer than an application for citizenship. And fees for board certification exams and license are much steeper than the fee for a citizenship application. So if DACA folks can afford to apply for a license, they can afford to apply for citizenship.

You have to be a native born American or British to be a “native” English speaker...
English is their second language if they speak it...

The definition of native speaker I am familiar with is a person who has spoken the language in question from earliest childhood. So for many children in bilingual countries whose home language differs from the language of the environment, it is debatable which language is one’s ‘native language’ but at least the illegals in question will presumably speak at a level of native fluency. That was the point.
