An unlikely duo, Clinton and Romney challenge Trump on taxes

BLACKWOOD, N.J. (AP) — Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton took aim at Donald Trump on taxes Wednesday and quickly found an unlikely ally: 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney.

Clinton noted at a New Jersey campaign rally that Trump had yet to release his tax returns and said he would slash taxes for the nation's wealthiest people if elected president. Hours later, Romney issued a withering post on Facebook, accusing Trump of hiding a damaging revelation in his tax returns.

"There is only one logical explanation for Mr. Trump's refusal to release his returns: there is a bombshell in them," Romney wrote. "Given Mr. Trump's equanimity with other flaws in his history, we can only assume it's a bombshell of unusual size."

Clinton and Romney called on Trump to release his tax returns following an Associated Press interview Tuesday, in which the presumptive Republican presidential nominee said he doesn't have an obligation to release the records and won't do so until an audit of his finances is completed.

"There's nothing to learn from them," he said in the interview.

While Trump will likely face Clinton in the general election, the Democratic front-runner took a much softer approach than Romney in New Jersey, which holds a June 7 primary. When a man in the crowd yelled, "What about his tax returns," Clinton said the nominees of both parties typically release them.

Clinton pointed out that she and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, had put out more than three decades of tax records. "You've got to ask yourself why doesn't he want to release it," she said.

The state's governor, Trump ally Chris Christie, said it was "ironic" that Clinton was talking about the issue given her use of a private email address and server while serving as secretary of state.

Trump knows whether releasing his tax returns would adversely affect his image. He knows the pluses and minuses and only he can make the decision.

As Trump has been audited year after year by the IRS, just what Big Bombshell do you think Trump has hidden, Mr. Romney. The IRS would have discovered any big bombshells in each of the many years Trump has been audited, if any existed, and they haven’t, as none do. Romney is barking up a nonexistent tree. Watch it, Mr. Romney, Trump has a long memory.

“Hold your nose and vote for Romney” we were all told in 2012.

Now he works to elect Hillary.

The GOPe wonders why Trump is so popular and they are despised.

Is there any more proof needed that the Republican voters have consistently been scammed by the GOPe in 2008 and 2012 than this unreal attack AT THIS POINT IN TIME by one of their own representative TRUMP attack dogs.

Mitt is just as loyal to conservatives and to Americans in general as he has always been. Those optimists who hoped for improvement were fools.

Clinton should go first, with all her speech payments that she refuses to divulge; the emails; and the whole thing about all that money she got from Middle Eastern donors, including campaign donations.

Romney has become a bizarre scumbag and a traitor. Republicans should attack their own nominee over tax returns? I don’t think so. There is something very evil and sick about these people that are trying to defeat our nominee.

“”Clinton pointed out that she and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, had put out more than three decades of tax records””

I heard her today so I looked and yes, there are at least 30 years worth there but 2015 is not!! Oh! my goodness, Hillary, why haven’t you and Bill filed your 2015 taxes? They were due a month ago!! Did you get an extension? Needed more time? Why? There certainly must be something fishy there or is your accountant just too busy amending the foundation’s previous returns that needed corrections?

The returns really are interesting. I enjoy looking them over to see where their income is coming from, what their expenses are etc. There are several statements for each source of income; speaking, consulting, author with names of the source. ZFS Holding LLC is one and I found that Hillary incorporated that in Delaware just a few days after leaving the State Department. Harry Walker Agency is another source and it’s an exclusive speaker’s bureau in NYC....These people really do breathe rarified air, don’t they?
