This company is just doing the same as many other large companies: Pushing the policies of the federal government. Look at how affirmative action has spread to the private sector (under threat of federal litigation); companies just roll over.

At this point large companies are just extensions of the federal government; “too big too fail” was the cover for one arm of the government propping up another...

You are right, but it is even worse: They do not just prop up, they take over.
Look at the way the Federal government “saved” General Motors - and then used the ensuing control that gave them to shut down Cadillac franchises, which just happened to be owned by conservatives.
When the government picks winners and losers, it is always the communists who are winners, and the conservatives who are losers.
