Bill Kristol meets with Romney, tries to convince him to make a third-party run

…Unless, of course, you're trying to put Hillary in the oval office

Donald Trump is a boorish, horrible, human being who fails to live up to even the dismal behavioral standards of Bill Clinton. He’s also not a “true conservative” - whatever that is. This is the message being offered by the #NeverTrumpers who are hell-bent on handing the election to Hillary finding a “real dyed-in-the-wool conservative” who will run as a 2016 third party candidate. Because Trump is so odious, someone with honest-to-God “right-wing credentials” simply must be dragged into the race.

To that end, “real conservative” and Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol has been meeting with the ultimate conservative candidate. His name is… Mitt Romney.

Maybe if Romney runs third party, Bernie will run fourth party.

Wouldn’t that be something to see.

He isn’t alone. Plenty of GOP folks have said so openly, preferring Hillary to Trump. In this election season that has been all about “anything but the establishment”, those in power need Hillary to win to avoid losing their positions of comfort, prestige, and power. Both parties saw majorities voting for people who weren’t members of their party (Bernie hasn’t been a Dem since the 70s, and half of the early front-runners in the GOP weren’t even politicians). This election was an attempt at a bloodless revolt against those in power who have been abusing their position. The next revolt may not be so peaceful.
.
Even with a Trump win, there’s no guarantee that this widespread sentiment will end. The Left will keep hating America, and the Right can easily be disenchanted with his Administartion, since he is such a wildcard.

Expect an Isreal like Kadima Party effort by the “moderates” here in the US. Evil lying ba@terds that they are. Anything to destroy the nation.

That would be great news. Bernie would siphon far more votes from Hillary than Romney would from Trump.

It would all but assure a Trump victory.

Trump’s not a conservative. But neither is Romney. All this would do is shore up Hillary’s faltering campaign

The RINO GOPe is going down kicking and screaming.

Yes but the point is they ARE going down. I was at the point of advocating a third party and dumping the GOPe altogether.

But we are succeeding in taking the party back and stopping the GOPe gravy train in its tracks. Let THEM leave the party they only represent a small fraction which has enjoyed disproportional power given their actual numbers.

Thanks. You seem to have summed it up in your Post #47 on another thread:

". . . the GOP is going to nominate a genuine demagogue, in the non-pejorative sense of the term, a man who speaks what the people want to hear, and does it in a way that makes him very popular among enough of a plurality of voters that he will be swept into office in November in a landslide similar to the one Reagan had in 1984, Eisenhower in 1952, and FDR in 1932."

Then, it's up to those same people who spoke out against the prevailing narcissism and government oppression of Obama, the Clintons, Kerry, and certain of the "insider" Republicans to became enablers, to hold Trump and those he surrounds himself with to account for their actions.

If the GOPe party does decide to back a third party candidate, Trump will have cause to SUE the GOP for renegeing on their agreement.

Oh, and don’t forget the MILLIONS of people who voted for Trump in the primaries.

The GOPe really does not want to have to face them. Getting elected/re-elected will be the least of their worries.

How many times does Mitt have to get rejected to get the message? 2 ... 3 ... 4 times?

Oooops!! Should have been: "Then, it's up to those same people who spoke out against the prevailing narcissism and government oppression of Obama, the Clintons, Kerry, and certain of the "insider" Republicans who became enablers, to hold Trump and those he surrounds himself with to account for their actions.

When the GOP establishment and the neocons get their candidate of choice, a third party alternative is just a "spoiler" who's "helping the Democrats." When Republican voters select a candidate who they don't approve of, suddenly their third party candidates of choice are no longer "spoilers...helping the Democrats."

See how that works?

The important thing here is to take away enough Trump votes to ensure Hillary wins, and the Uniparty can continue same old same old let the good times keep on rolling. This is what the GOPe/Limbaugh/etc. want. If Hillary loses, their money dries up. Explains why Limbaugh spends all his time trying to mislead “true conservatives” into the false belief Trump can not possibly win. So, since Trump can not possibly win Limbaugh et al will be justified supporting that sure fire “true conservative” Romney or Ryan in a 3rd party run. Trying to “save” the country they will explain. Hillary wins, these traitors win. We lose.

Kristol is one of those rinos that was telling everybody to put aside your principles and vote for the party candidate.

Now that the shoe is on the other foot, the tune changes.

I am hearing that the Cleveland Browns are talking with Johnny Manziel to make a Super Bowl Run in 2016.

Oops, sorry, typo, I meant to say that Kristol is meeting with Romney to make a presidential run in 2016.

Same thing though, right?

Bill Kristol even dumber than Jeb Bush - who said that pledging to support the Republican nominee was OK because there was no way Trump would be it.....
