The valorous dead of the USS Cole have been betrayed too many times to count by each administration
On Thursday morning, sailors on board the USS Cole were lining up for an early lunch. Seventeen of them died as an Al Qaeda bomb on board a fishing boat tore through the hull outside the galley. The dead included 15 men and 2 women, one of whom had a young child. For three weeks the crew of the USS Cole struggled to keep their ship from sinking while working waist deep in water with bucket brigades, sleeping on the deck and living surrounded by the terrible aftermath of the terrorist attack.
The survivors, wounded and whole, received the words Glory is the Reward of Valor written on the bent steel removed from the site of the explosion that tore through their ship and their lives.
Bucket brigades?
The USN doesn’t even have 15th century human powered pump technology to bring onboard?
The entire situation was engineered by the US State department.
I’d call BS on that particular point. DC crews have gasoline-powered pumps available for dewatering. Every sailor aboard knows how to use them.
President Bill Clinton declared, “If, as it now appears, this was an act of terrorism, it was a despicable and cowardly act. We will find out who was responsible and hold them accountable”.
Both the Clinton Administration and the Bush Administration have been criticized for failing to respond militarily to the attack on the USS Cole before 11 September 2001. The 9/11 Commission Report cites one source who said in February 2001, “[bin Laden] complained frequently that the United States had not yet attacked [in response to the Cole]... Bin Laden wanted the United States to attack, and if it did not he would launch something bigger.”[39]
Seems to me that if Clinton wanted to do something about Al Quada he could have, but he didn’t want to...and you can’t tell me that the Bushes didn’t know about 9/11 before it happened...(28 pages)...
Am I mistaken that Obama just released a Terrorist tied to the Cole Bombing from Gitmo? I swear I read it somewhere.
u r correct
>and you cant tell me that the Bushes didnt know about 9/11 before it happened...(28 pages)...<
.
Too much hanky-panky going on between the house of Saud and the WH.
I do attend to agree 100% with you...
the captain of the USS Cole forbade live ammo.
surely you think I mean before the explosion live ammo was forbidden but that’s what I do not mean:
I mean **after** the explosion and after everyone on board understood the danger, and evryone feared getting finished off via follow up attack, the captain then forbade distribution of live ammo.
his reason was because he wanted to prevent a tragedy — THAT is what I’m saying.
THAT is how screwed up things are.
The Cole was an embarrassment. To begin with, a ship didn’t defend itself right. In Yemen they let a foreign boat pull right alongside. When blasted, the mixed man and woman crew reported that many started running around looking for their lovers.
As they were towed from port later, they played Kid Rock “American Badass” over the loudspeakers.
Just retarded. This was a defeat and a display of weakness.
After all the heroism, the ship had to carried, piggy back style, back to the US for repairs.
Believe the bucket-brigades.
Navy ships carry gasoline-powered portable pumps for firefighting and dewatering. The P-250 doesn’t require electrical power to operate. I think the bucket-brigade claim is BS.
The dead included 15 men and 2 women, one of whom had a young child
Ok - this pisses me off. How many of the 15 men had young children?
How are you supposed to breathe with the exhaust fumes pouring out of the pumps? Been there done that on a boat.
Just wait until the women are on the front lines in combat!
Misandry is as bad as misogyny.
You put the pump on deck. What sort of boat were you on? Standard practice on DLG/DDG.
That book probably didn’t include the P-250 “portable” pump. :=)
