I live in a region with a *massive* fresh water lake. I can afford to make my lawn nice and green.

Businesses growing almonds in one of the least hospitable place in the world complaining that they can’t buy water during a drought? Screw that — it’s not just all about business. We’re not going to turn a limited public resource like water into a “f you I got mine” source of cash for the free market when we’re talking about an existential drought crisis.

There is a new industry of water-saving technology that is growing just because of the drought making it necessary, and this industry will be important for American security interests in the long term.

While I feel for the smaller farmers, the reservoirs are still awfully low.
