This week, in a surprising reversal, the U.S. Army decided to retain SFC Charles Martland in the Armed Services of the United States. The decorated Green Beret survived a long-term effort by the Army to kick him out after he physically confronted a local Afghan commander pedophile. The incident occurred in northern Afghanistan in 2011. Since that time, the Army has tried to administratively remove SFC Martland from the Armed services.
In a telephone interview, Martland told Fox News: "I am real thankful for being able to continue to serve." He loves his job and the Army and Martland expressed his appreciation to Congressman Duncan Hunter and Hunter’s Chief of Staff, Joe Kasper who fought Obama’s Army bureaucracy on the soldier’s behalf.
Martland has been described by many of his teammates as the finest soldier they have ever served alongside. He was on his second tour in Afghanistan when the incident occurred.

It’s a disgrace that this ever got as far as it did.
He’ll get Master Sergeant in 2017 when his CIC is relieved of duty by Trump, and First Sergeant two years later. If Hillary! somehow inhabits the Oval Office, he won’t re-up.
Martland is a mensch.
The Army leadership is a disgrace.
He’d be wise to study Uriah’s end. He could find himself in a distant outpost without any compatriots.
Now that he’s been cleared; I hope he really did kick the snot out of that pedophile bassturd while he was at it.
Most likely he will be told or encouraged to sign an NDA to keep it quiet.
That is a fact. And, there are other cases that need to be reviewed as well.
I don’t think so. There is something to be said for notoriety.
A lot of people will be keeping a watchful eye on Martland, starting with Duncan Hunter.

By the looks of this soldier, I don't believe he has in his history a track record of doing things half way.
His ENTIRE chain of command should be given the boot.

The Afghans have an awful government, with some good people. Mostly terrible though. Some of those micro-tyrants run their communities like a criminal organization. It’s so feudal that even if you came into the country with the best of intentions you were bound to leave 6-12 months later a complete cynic. The love for humanity burns out of you after witnessing children being killed in sectarian bullshit instigated from 1200 years ago.
I love my country. I despise its government.

I have told a lot of people about SFC Charles Martland’s heroic act and the expulsion that he faced. We have been praying for him.

Hunter is on the right side of many issues, I hope Trump considers him as a potential running mate.
Yesterday I posted that Trump needed to pick a VP not on the basis of strategy but rather of succession, someone who would finish what Trump starts, rather the overturn it the way Teddy did with McKinley in 1901 or GHWB did with Reagan in 1989. I also said I couldn't think of anyone to fit that bill. You have just pointed out someone who would, and I agree with you.
