Just received my new debit card from my bank. It has a chip in it. Is this the Mark of the Beast?

That’s my response when people complain about the time it takes...’course the thieves will compromise this, too.
Just be careful you don’t overdraw your account, cuz “cutting the card” is going to be messy!
This just means you have to both swipe your card and stick into the machine so you and the cashier can wait for 30 seconds for it to recognize the chip.
Has done a marvelous job at slowing down the checkout lines at the supermarket.

Yeah, the only drawback I have found is ATM machines. Almost all of them were set up so you just inserted the card and pulled it out, so I never forgot my card in the machine anymore.
Now, if you have the chip you have to insert the card and leave it there while you do the transaction, so I run the risk of forgetting my card again... ah, progress.
I just knew this thread would brighten my day with a few laughs!
The machines I’ve used have an annoying loud beeper sounding if you don’t pull the card out after the transaction is done. It’s pretty difficult to ignore.
They do track your movement. But hey its 1984. Everything tracks you. :-)
When I was in India, I was staying at a new hotel one night, and I was laying in the bed watching TV and I suddenly smelled that curry funk and I was like OH MY GOD THERE IS SOMETHING NASTY IN THIS BED!!! And then I sniffed my armpit and went on, never mind, it was ME. :-}
I made a living coming up with way to schedule staff to deal with customers. We had about 13 million contacts a month. If you add 15-20 seconds to each contact either the waiting queue is going to be horrible or you just added a bunch of people to the staff.
Either way, your margins are going down.
You would think they would have thought about that before they started forcing people into the process. That’s the only point I am making.
