May have not have been the first, but near it. I had to be in the 4th grade and we were shooting reloads in a Remington pump. It was New Years eve and that was our fireworks. One of the loads was a dud so dad, who was supporting me, jacked another into the chamber and Boom. It looked like a cartoon barrel all flared out. Seems the wadding from the previous shell jammed the barrel. He never shot another shotgun reload. A few years later I found the end of the barrel over the hill about 30 yards away.
The only time I ever can say my dad look scared.
