That's vibrate, isn't it? I'm half deaf, and I can pick it up across the room; I assume critters would be even more aware of it.

No, I can turn off both sound and vibrate (a separate option anyway - which can be disabled) on mine (HTC/Android). I'm no smart phone expert, but I'd expect you can do that on any phone. Check under "sound profiles" on yours. Mine has a "silent" option. (That new app this thread is about could call it "kill mode" :-))

I thought the idea was to alert one another when hunting an area to prevent accidents. If the phone doesn’t do SOMETHING, how do they know there’s an alert coming in. I’ll go back and read it again; maybe I missed something.
