That might work, depending on where in the Black Sea this incident took place, its a big body of water. A quick glance at a map also illustrates the importance of Crimea in terms of power projection in the area. Any aircraft flying from Poland would be subject to interception by Crimea based aircraft.

You also assume that:

1. Communication existed between the USN ship and the Polish military.

2. The USN is allowed to ask the Poles for help.

3. The CIC wanted reinforcements to arrive.

There have been too many instances of US military humiliation recently and one wonders why these ships are placed in harm's way with no support in the air or at sea. Who is in charge and what are his aims?

Sir, you are an idiot if you believe our Navy is incompetent and cowards. The problem is that our military people have been hogtied by the Chief “incompetent and coward” of all time, odumbo. You turn our people loose and let them fight you will sing a totally different tune.
