Broadcast rights. Because the MLB sells primarily local broadcast contracts there’s a lot of issue with geography, issues that didn’t used to matter but in this modern age where nothing is ever truly local it does. Either you’re living someplace where you’re “covered” by somebody’s contract, or WGN and your radio station just don’t want to screw with it and block the games from anything outside their contracted “circle”.
