The damage “conservatives” in Washington have done
Coach is Right ^ | 3/4/16 | Kevin "Coach" Collins

Over the past number of years we rank and file conservatives have learned a number of hard lessons. We have learned that the liberals were far more greedy and self-absorbed with “White guilt” than we could ever have imagined.

We learned that Democrats really will stop at nothing to get and keep power. While both of these lessons could have been predicted, a far more profound lesson about the insidious nature of politicians has been shoved down our throats by the very people we trusted to help us fix the damage caused by Democrat governance: The “conservatives” in Washington. They have made things far worse.

Watching them lie and break promises while laughing in our face has made the very word “conservative” suspect as it manifests itself in our public arena. The Republican Party has distorted the concept of “conservatism” so completely that the title “conservative,” when applied to a Washington Republican, has lost its meaning.

The lies and betrayals have come so fast and piled so high that no thinking conservative should grant his/her trust to anyone claiming to be a conservative. Is Paul Ryan a conservative? Is John Boehner a conservative? How about Mitch McConnell? Clearly, if the answer depends on actually conducting themselves as conservatives the answer is no, they are not.

Now we have a choice to make. Do we support another “conservative” who has already shown he relies on money from those who do not want what we want from the next president; or do we look elsewhere?

Four years ago and in this current Republican campaign we rank and file conservatives would probably, easily have supported Ted Cruz. Absent Donald Trump I would be...

Trump represents the most extreme example to date of a liberal dressed up in “conservative” clothing.

“Coach” Collins is just too snake-fascinated with Trump’s act to see it.

No, it's NOT the damage Conservatives have done, it's the damage the GOPE has done by NOT listening to their core constituents.

Period.

The USA is purposely and systemically de industrializing and the Republican Party is facilitating that effort. The Cheap Labor Express is paying off congress to faciltate this rush to the bottom.

The Republican Party has distorted the concept of “conservatism” so completely that the title “conservative,” when applied to a Washington Republican, has lost its meaning.

Free clue (to the author of this "article") .....

The title "Republican" has not been interoperative with the title "Conservative" nor has "Conservative" been interoperative with the title "Republican" since Reagan.

This Conservative left the Republican Party in 1991, thanks to George Herbert Walker Bush.

I *SPIT* on the Republican Party. The lying bastards have for DECADES betrayed Conservatives.

Everything that's happening right now in the Republican Party is the fault of the GOPE/GOP Leadership. The blame is squarely on their shoulders for ignoring the very will of those who put them in office.

Yes, I know the article states that. Where this article veers off the road and over cliff is assuming Republican=Conservative and vice-versa when that hasn't been true for a very, very long time.

The closest person to a true conservative in Washington that I can think of is Jeff Sessions...

It's funny how Rand Paul was attacked for not being a "true conservative", when he was virtually the only candidate in the race who cared about actually conserving the important things: the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the radical spirit of liberty bequeathed to us by the Founding Fathers. Charisma-challenged and not very Presidential-looking, to be sure, but he got the big issues right.

These new DC conservatives seem primarily interested in conserving the social norms and values of Middle America in the 1950's, or conserving large defense contracts in perpetuity, or conserving the money center banks' monopoly on finance against the ravages of the bankers' own incompetence. Their "conservatism" has destroyed the meaning of the word. They have lived down to the Left's worst stereotypes.

If we end up with "President Hillary Clinton (tm) - Brought to you by Diebold and Goldman Sachs" anyway, it will be because the fix was already in.

This is the election that convinced me to not use the word "conservative" to describe myself or my beliefs.

I don't know what that word means anymore and I don't like very many of the people who call themselves "conservatives" these days.

If they are conservative, then I am something else.

The implications should be obvious: we cannot produce our own war materiel anymore. Where will our tanks, planes, ships, and missiles come from, should we suddenly need more?

What part of stopping illegal immigration, finishing the wall, keeping terrorists out, lowering taxes, and getting a fair handle on corrupt trade deals are liberal?

I am not against Cruz but he won't be able to get things done....we NEED to get done.

The Washington “conservatives” have sullied the meaning of conservatism and now I am finished with those carrying that mantle.

True, and no one can even define a consistent conservative position on the key issues of immigration, trade, and even foreign policy. That's why the almost constant talk of supporting the 'conservative' candidate in this race falls more and more deaf ears.

In the future fighting long wars off attrition where large amounts of equipment will be destroyed and need replacing cannot be fought. We either win early or lose. There will be no slugging it out.

I think you nailed Cruz's problem right here. At issue is the word "Conservative" has a bad perception in the minds of many thanks to the damage the GOPE has done to it.

Joe six-pack sitting at home hears how bad Conservatives are on the boob-tube (TV) and then hears Ted Cruz calling himself a Consistent Conservative and BLAMMO! Instant turn-off.

Joe six-pack may be pissed off at what's going on in the country and may actually agree with Ted Cruz, but he's heard that word "Conservative" which is getting trashed about on the idiot box (TV) so he wants no part of actually listening to what Ted Cruz has to say.

This is yet another example of why I say: when the revolution in this country finally starts, the lying, liberal lamestream media must be the FIRST casualty, so that the truth of the cause of the revolution actually gets told.

First the media. Then the politicians. Then the judiciary. Start over with a clean slate. Good luck America!

Correct. He's a populist. A marginal one, but he's a populist.

Then it's a one-shot-and-done? How long will it take to restock for the next one, 5 years, 10 years?

Maybe, but I think the only place where we can mostly agree on what 'conservative' means involves domestic policy. When we get into immigration, international trade and foreign policy, the policy questions just can't be answered with what is or is not conservative.

If we look at what Republicans who call themselves conservative have done over the years, then conservative means full globalist: open borders and any trade agreement that's proposed, and an interventionist foreign policy, and believing we can convert the Muslims to Jeffersonian democrats who respect individual rights.
