We didn't know what to ‘do’ with the win. If we had treated Japan the same way (built a few schools - handed out candy - and left) we'd still be fighting Japan today.

We should have handed them an iron clad Constitution and enforced it for 10 years. That way every two-bit monster would know that going to war with the US means NO POWER FOR MONSTERS in the foreseeable future.
