At about the same time Gloria Steinem published her feminist manifesto The Feminine Mystique (New York: Norton, 1963), Helen Andelin published Fascinating Womanhood (Santa Barbara, Calif.: Pacific, 1963) which argued that women would be happier and feel more fulfillment in pursuing traditional roles as wives and mothers. Helen Andelin's opus, dubbed "the book feminists love to hate" has sold steadily through the past five decades and is still in print.
