I want a country where the President gives his inaugural speech, and then goes away and does little outside of prescribed duties. The President is not supposed to be an elected King.
Good luck with that. The tendencies to long for a president as an elected king didn't begin with Trumpty Dumpty and, unless an awful lot of people regardless of their places across the ideological divide quit longing for King Presidents, they won't end with those longing for King Trump (or anyone else), either.

This should be required reading this year . . .

Yeah, I know it’ll never happen. People like royalty, which is why the celebrity culture thrives. The Trump phenom shows that cult of personality is a feature present in all political persuasions.
