Cui bono? Mostly, the devil.

It didn’t have to get this ungracious. It’s looking a lot like... hear me out... the “birther” problem for Cruz will be real enough that he’s going to be forced out of the race. If he looks ahead, he’s going to see that he is probably the ideal sidekick (as in advisor, not running mate) for Donald.

Oh good, I hadn’t read the latest anti-Cruz screed by Sundance.

I know that when I look for a rational voice on issues important to conservatives (immigration, smaller government, 2nd Amendment rights, 10th Amendment, abortion, judicial over-reach) I can always turn to that bastion of internet conservatism, the “Conservative Treehouse”.

/sarcasm

I know you’re an admitted pro-choice advocate, but how do the rest of the Trump supporters on FR justify supporting a man with fewer conservative credentials than Rubio! ?

LOL...are you asking the same question on the NUMEROUS Trump circular firing squad threads?

I’m a Cruz supporter and I am desperate to preserve liberty and return to a Constitutional government. So yes I am desperate which I greatly prefer to being willfully naive.

How are we going to justify this?

Get Cruz to be Donald’s best buddy, that’s how...

Very interesting comment from another poster:

“Cruz does not pass “nearly every litmus test they can throw at him.” On the big one, immigration (illegal or otherwise), he fails. I prefer a rock-ribbed American, not someone who had dual loyalties up until 18 months ago - and yes, Cruz was aware that he was a Canadian citizen, folks. Why hold onto Canada? Hedging his bets? Besides that, he supports the hollowing out of American industries. Why else would he support TPA (he penned an op-ed for the New York Times in support of TPA, you may remember)? He supports increasing the number of foreign H1B workers. Teddy bears for illegals with Glenn Beck. Sure, Cruz is pro-life, anti-gay marriage, pro-gun, etc. But if he is not only complicit, but actively engaged in changing our demographics, changing our identity permanently, what does it matter? Those issues which are important to us will be forever decided, slanted to accommodate a third-world populace who knows nothing of our values, our heritage, our history. Cruz uses the wedge issues like gay marriage (as does every other professional politician) to distract from the issue I find most prescient. While we get all worked up over wedge issues, they barter away our country with secret trade deals, and with it our future.”

Cruz is “purty good” — but not perfect.

I’m a Ted Cruz supporter...and I am neither desperate or in any kind of denial.

I am happy to see him doing well in Iowa and hope he wins there.

I believe he is the most constitutional and conservative of the pack.

Having said that, I am also more than happy to end up supporting whomever is the nominee...including Doanld Trump, against the likes of Hillary or Sanders.

IMHO, that’s the sanest and most productive attitude any of us can have for the GOP right now. There is no need to get personal or to drag one another down...that only benefits the liberals and progressives and further damages the nation.

In any campaign, there are going to be things said and accusations leveled...both ways...that are meant to try and knock people down a few percentage pints. Sadly...it is the way things have developed here and generally such things mask the true issues of the day.

But you live with it and move on to getting a candidate vetted through the process and nominated who can best serve the nation. That’s what is happening here...and as I say, at the end of it, I am confidant that I will be able to support the nominee against Hillary or Sanders.

Some I certainly feel stronger about than others. But at this stage, I feel very confidant that the American people are going to choose someone outside the establishment to get this job done and we’d best all be in a position to support whomever that is against the Dems.

I heard similar complaints about Reagan in the run-up to his first election. He wasn’t another Goldwater and even admitted to a streak of libertarian-ism.

As a Trump supporter, the inevitable collision between Trump and Cruz is sad to see. I refuse to take part in the Cruz bashing.

A presidential thrust that combines a number of talents would be best. We’ve been so conditioned to think of it as some kind of one-man show.

Obama kind of already pioneered the concept... his think tank is primarily Valerie Jarrett. They use their talents for evil, but most definitely they are pooled.

How about something like Donald Trump with the other front runners to advise. And most notably, Cruz. You got a good sharp spear head and many feathers of wisdom combined here.

Why let the devil have all the good ideas?

Very disappointing.

When Trump trashes Cruz I feel like he is slapping conservatives hard across the face.
I’ve been skeptical of criticisms of Trump but nothing makes do a double take like this.

What kind of coalition is there going to be for any victor to govern with this kind of infighting?

Folks who know Donald know his tendency to deep hyperbole. He’ll call you bastard one week and be shaking your hand in congratulations the next. It’s an ungodly scene, but it’s also not as serious as it looks. Like a cat fight, mostly screeching.
