Earlier today, Mark Levin posted a collegial bit of guidance for Donald Trump, who has ratcheted up an increasingly hysterical grab-bag of attacks on his only real competitor for the GOP nomination, Ted Cruz. And said attacks are simply smears like "birtherism", not policy-based differences.
Attorney, author, and radio host Mark R. Levin Either cut the crap - your accusations this morning that Cruz is Canadian, a criminal, owned by big banks, etc. ("Trump Tees Off: Cruz A 'Canadian' Who Goldman Sachs, Citi Bank 'Owns'") - or you will lose lots and lots of conservatives.
Save the liberal New York City bully tactics for the New York City liberals. Put down your computer keyboard for a few hours, think before you tweet, and collect yourself. You're not politically invincible, regardless of the polls and media.
I am already hearing more and more people getting fed up with the low road you're taking against Cruz, which has obviously intensified this morning.
You don't need to attack his honor or attempt to smear his reputation. You can leave that to Mitch McConnell and the New York Times.
Engage on real and substantive issues that matter to the country. Like I said, my friendly advice. Trump's increasingly anxious rhetoric is ironic given his troubling shifts in position as the race nears its conclusion.
Remember when Donald Trump supported an assault weapons ban and then lied to AmmoLand about it?
How about when he supported fourth trimester partial-birth abortions, citing his "New York" values?
As for being "owned" by the banks, can you guess whose properties are mortgaged to the hilt and has already declared his businesses bankrupt four times?
Look, I would support Mr. Trump over Hillary Clinton because I would support the bag-lady on 34th Street over Hillary Clinton. I would like Mr. Trump's supporters to make the same statement about, say, Mr. Cruz.
That many will not make that pledge, apparently mesmerized by a cult of personality, says volumes about the nature of Mr. Trump's support.
I believe all those attributes about Cruz, but don’t believe your Trumped-up bluster re him being spanked/smothered during the debate. However, I will vote for Trump if he’s the Republican nominee in the general...
& this supposedly a conservative site...
Who cares what this fraud Levin thinks. He is the moron who vetted Crypto Liberal Justice Kennedy. His voice is worthless
The fact that Trump used Laurence Tribe and his source proves a couple of things. He’s a liberal and he didn’t actually read what Tribe said (he probably got the information from one of his sycophant adjutant’s, yes they have them in the civilian world just like the military.
Just thinking about the next president’s ability to appoint up to 3 maybe 4 Supreme Court Justices and Trump thinks the world of Tribe has got to scare the crap out of you.
Yes, it does...
Trump is just too tough for you guys? Cruz tried to embarrass him on global TV and brought his mother into it, to boot, not to mention their running for POTUS against each other!! WTF did you think was going to happen? BTW this AM on Twitter it’s gotten even stronger.
hey, from a guy on a boat that used to dock just a few piers up from you guys in New London, please don't put words in Trump's mouth. To repeat an argument about the constitution put forward by a lawyer who successfully argues before the SC is not to approve that argument but merely to point out that there is a justiciable case that needs to be settled.
I agree that Trump needs to tone it down, but I also understand what Trump is doing. He is trying to win as soon as he can with the least cost and uncertainty. Prevailing in Iowa rather than putting it off till further down the road allows him to turn his cannon on Hillary, and stop worrying about what the Republican field will do.
And if he can take on Hillary now, maybe he can stop her candidacy now, and we all win.
One enemy is a whole lot easier than 7 or 9 or 13 or however many candidates there are who are now running.
Actually, they are, but that is water under the bridge at this point. The sellout Republicans never brought that case either before the house or before the SC.
When people say their advice is “friendly”, it is anything BUT friendly.
Just sayin’...
Yeah, leave Ted alone Don and get back to mastering your New York values as taught to you by Chuck Schumer, a guy you probably donated too at one time or another. So hard to keep track. Or are you learning from Thad Cochran’s latest campaign?
You seemed freaked that Trump couldn’t bully Cruz like he has other candidates.
Trump dishonestly went after Cruz’s citizenship with his passive aggressive attack, Cruz is hitting back.
Bullies don’t like getting punched. His diatribe on twitter demonstrates how think skinned he really is remind one of Obama.
In the eye of the beholder, I suppose. I saw nothing epic or game ending for either of them. I did see two guys suck the oxygen out of the room for the establishment candidates. That was fun.
He’s saying that as someone who has had Trump on his radio program on several occasions & always had non-critical, substantive discussions with him...until Trump started attacking using Alinskyite tactics.
We have a winner!!!
He looks like a one man show but you know, that in an 8 to 10 billion dollar organization, that can't be the case. Many of his adherents on this site as well as others appear to be rather well organized and have zero interest in actually discussing the issues and ferreting fact from fiction in term of campaign rhetoric or in understanding the common enemy. Again scary stuff.
I server on Bates in the New London days and am a plank owner, I sure we might have run in to each other back then, however we spent a ton of time deployed back then. Good the correspond with you.
...I also understand what Trump is doing. He is trying to win as soon as he can with the least cost and uncertainty. You know, an advantage Trump gains through these birther and NY Values flare-ups is he's now free to choose the Vice President he wants. And maybe what Trump had in mind was the subject of the recent Peggy Noonan article. If Cruz doesn't have many friends in the Senate, how can he be an effective President of the Senate? Did Trump make a deal with the GOPe? Put Cruz in a post like Attorney General, but give us a VP and President of the Senate who we like. In return, the GOPe turns away the dogs and agrees to go after Hillary. The art of the deal? What do you think? |
Saturdays Sundays and Nights. The good old days of cold war North Atlantic ops, when men were men.
Levin sold out to Trump and it made him look small.
GOPe wants to save its skin and support Trump. I would not want to be in their position negotiating with Trump when they need him and he does not really need them. What can they bring him? Who do they have to sacrifice? [I would hope that the retirement of McConnell and Ryan are on that list - not for me my friend - I get nothing out of this - this is just some well meant advice so that you to save yourself from the lynchmob out in the public that wants all of your skins. Really, just friendly advice - take it or leave it as you see fit].
Sold out? In what way? Mark had any candidate on his show who asked to be there...
