The Republican establishment in Virginia doesnât even try to hide its fear and loathing of Donald Trump......
This is why the new Overtime poll results from a survey taken from January 3rd to the 5th is both encouraging for Trump and should be troubling for his only remaining rival, Texas Senator Ted Cruz.
While the poll shows the usual solid lead Trump has overallâin this case a 9 point advantage at 28% to 19%âthe headline doesnât provide the data that is most important.
The survey is a new restatement of the fact that Trump is doing very well â actually regularly above 25% â with African Americans. This poll shows that advantage continuing. It shows Trump gets 27% of the African American vote while Senator Cruz gets just 7%.
It another key indicator, while Trump gets just 11% of the Latino vote, Senator Cruz does surprisingly poorly among those he shares ethnicity with. Cruz gets only 4% support from Hispanics!
When the focus swings around to White voters Trump is ahead by a slim margin leading with 28% to 23% for Senator Cruz. This shows that while Cruz is not doing well with Hispanics; for whatever reason, he is not making the sale with the biggest voting bloc on the stage: White America.
Contrary to the propaganda and distortions about his appeal to women, however small Trumpâs numbers with women are (26%) he is still substantially ahead of Senator Cruz who is drawing 17% support from women.
To avoid run-on, statistical noise, it is easier to report the results this way: Trump wins big with men, and among the higher turnout voters age 60+; while Senator Cruz won just one category â those earning 10 to 25K (by just 25/23) and only broke 20% (21 with men) one other time.

And who thought that bringing Hispanics into this country would somehow, magically give votes to conservatives?
Coach is an anti-Cruz troll. He makes up stuff and as such...
Dismissed.
If this was February 24th or later I’d be worried.
This is not an anti-Trump move. We've been doing it for several election cycles now because VA has open primaries and this is an attempt to discourage democrats from spoiling Republican Primaries.
Trump might well destroy the Republican Party, and this is payback for the Republican Party destroying America.
Cruz committed the unforgivable sin in the eyes of the government slugs who populate VA. He “shut down the government,” according to the Washington Post, which is their Bible. And the government is their God, providing all that they need in this life.
HAHAHA
27% of blacks? I don’t see number of blacks on this poll.
On the Iowa poll this morning Trump got 50% of black votes.... Yeah - 2 out of the 4 black polled.
But don’t let facts get in your way. Enjoy.
When is the VA primary?
Has Cruz even campaigned there other than his announcement @ Liberty U in April?

I’m with you on that assessment.
Don’t forget blog pimp.
Is this looking at overall Black and Hispanic vote, or Republican Black and Hispanic vote?
There is a creepy element to Cruz. Listening to him is a better experience than looking at him. I am not one to just appearances but he just isn't that telegenic.
Trump & Cruz are the two best candidates available.
My opinion of the Coach is as low as Yeb Bush poll numbers!
Excuse me .. aren’t the majority of people who live in VA work in D.C. ..?? Probably in some part of the Government ..?? If so, why are people expecting Trump and Cruz to do well ..??
These two guys are ready to rip the govt to shreds .. and reorganize lots of things that the DemocRATS already hate.
Thanks for pointing this out. I see “Coach’s” stuff on here a lot, and most of it is warmed over cliches based on stale news; even by his standards, though, this is beyond stupid.
This is a poll of likely Republican primary voters. The last several elections show Republicans getting about 5% of the AA vote, who account for about 15% of the total vote. I would hardly call 25% of 5% of 15% of the voting population representative of anything - in fact, at this number it’s a rounding error. You could probably poll communist evangelicals who support HRC and get a more credible result.
He cites a survey, you state an opinion. Dismissed.
I stated Coach makes up stuff.
This thread proves it.
