Private party gun sales are a red herring issue.

The number of crimes committed by guns obtained through legitimate private party and gun show purchases is amazingly low, probably because legitimate gun owners are reluctant to sell to potential criminals for liability reasons.

Virtually all gun crime is committed using guns illegally obtained.

Crimes committed using any type of rifle, much less a military style semi auto are so rare as to be statistically insignificant - less that 0.1 percent.

The fact is that way over half of all violent crimes are committed by black males from age 10-40 using illegally obtained weapons.

Recent history shows that over 90 percent of all recent mass casualty “ lone wolf” murder sprees are committed by Muslims shouting “Allah Akbar” as they gun down or run down their victims

Obama always presents himself as the man who fell to Earth and became President just today. To wit: How did this become such a partisan issue? Republican President George W. Bush once said, "I believe in background checks at gun shows or anywhere to make sure that guns don't get into the hands of people that shouldn't have them." Senator John McCain introduced a bipartisan measure to address the gun show loophole, saying, "We need this amendment because criminals and terrorists have exploited and are exploiting this very obvious loophole in our gun safety laws." Even the NRA used to support expanded background checks. And by the way, most of its members still do. Most Republican voters still do.

He lost me. Flopping Aces, flopping leftward. Universal Background Checks = Universal Gun Registration.
