war. There were inventions coming along very soon that would
have rendered slavery obsolete. - My great-great grandfather
was a Rebel soldier at Shiloh. He said it was a horrible
mess and a confusion; so many died. I grew up living not far
from Shiloh. I’m 69. When I was a child, the Bloody Pond at
Shiloh was still a deep, dark bloody color; even the rocks
in the pond were stained by the blood of men from both sides. It has faded over the years. - He did not have any
slaves.
