ALLOW SENIORS TO VOTE A DAY EARLY

Posted on 12/13/2015 7:35:58 AM PST by DIRTYSECRET

Give them 8 hours on Monday to do their thing. They will not cheat like the libs. This will help eliminate long lines on Tuesday. Get rid of the 30 day early voting period-it equals fraud. Last include the military and wheel chair bound to vote on Monday. Show your I.D.

Hell, I am a Senior and I have earned my right to stand at the voting booth and draw a mental blank of even where I am, let alone not casting my ballot in a timely fashion so that I back up the line for the younger voters. Yep, I am the guy in a Hawaiian shirt, plaid shorts, long black socks, wearing sandals and dark sunglasses who drives a 68 Buick LeSabre at 45 miles per hour in the passing lane on the interstate. It is my right as a Senior! Now get back to work making money and paying taxes so my next Social Security check will hit the bank on time!!

Yup. A lot of times you can pick up all of the absentee ballots you want in the trash cans at the post office.

I do not doubt your good intentions, but I am absolutely against this.

All voting should occur on one single day, in person, on paper ballots, except by those who legitimately qualify for Absentee voting. Absentee ballots fix any issues about physical limitations, military duty, etc. Adding a day here and there opens the door to extending it to a week, then a month. Extra days facilitate fraud. I prefer that all in-person voters should have to sign in with a thumbprint, using ink that will last several days, to prevent multiple voting.

I’m laughing, but I wonder if the “youngsters” reading this think it is funny?

Why make people angry?

Most seniors die within six months of their birthdays.

It’s a fact.

Can’t for the life of me figure out how ONE DAY to vote was sufficient for many, many years and now it has to be messed with! Seemed to work just fine. Don’t tell me it’s because people “work”.... Good grief! I worked for 50+ years and didn’t find voting a problem. There seems to be no end to CHANGING things which aren’t necessary and we are expected to accept without complaint!

Insofar as many seniors tend to vote conservative, they’d have those votes pre sorted, and more easily “displaced” when the counting happens.

So, I’m against all “special” voting except for absentee balloting for servicemen and women.

Every exception is an opportunity for cheating.

They’re already allowed to vote in both New York and Florida.

In addition to paper ballots and one day only voting, the votes should be counted in an open area where anyone can walk up and witness the tally along with the vote totals for that precinct. A lot of funny business can happen with the vote counting but if the ballot box and all the stats etc are posted and witnessed in plain view, you can cut down on fraud. You can also witness them reporting the total votes up the chain. In 2008, apparently there was fraud in certain states where they misreported the vote counts in favor of Obama from some precincts.

You are making the assumption that there are no seniors who are Liberal and that they cannot be manipulated by liberals. Several of my older relatives are die-hard liberals.

Actually I am angry at myself, particularly for my youth, when I held condescending attitudes towards Seniors. Ironic payback in that I am now a Senior?

In Washington State we have mail-in ballots. So, they are mail ed out well in advance of the election day. No problem here.

Remember these seniors are comprised largely of baby-boomers though and not the greatest generation. All generational seniors are not the same as we have been used to, that is to say salt of the earth sensible types. (Think Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden, Harry Reid, Hillary Clinton, etc.)

We should have 1-2 days off a year for national elections and ask for ID. Period.

Move voting to Saturdays and Sundays.

Eliminate all early voting except for those very few people who have valid excuses for not being able to vote on those particular days.

I believe this is a good compromise. Having people vote weeks in advance can ruin primaries where candidates that take longer to get traction are eliminated because voters have already cast their ballots.

Make it difficult for anyone to vote other than on Election Day. Too much fraud. I am of the age group in the title. And I also have a handicap sticker on my truck for a reason.

But 2 things you should know....don’t call me a senior, it’ll pi$$ me off (read my tagline)... and I’ll wait in line to vote.
