I agree, but now that women are serving in combat roles, women should have to register too!

"Get down and give me one pushup, now soldier!!"

I can't do one!! What is up with your micro-aggression? Where is my safety room?

Uh no we don’t need to bring back the draft. Our volunteer military is the best and brightest in the world.

That was the rationale before to keep women from the draft: they aren’t in combat roles.

Forcing young men into the army while these screaming tramps get to have the benefits of their protection, and the right to vote at the same time is not acceptable.

The Italians have conscription where all able-bodied males have to serve. Works good for them as the conscripts get minimum pay and those who decide to make it a career get a good orientation. I would be able to do that before a draft. And since men and women really are different, I would flaunt that women aren't included in the deal.

It’s a great idea. 2 years mandatory service after high school. Tours can be volunteer only.

Teach them discipline and respect before they head off into the real world.

That’s your own fault for spending so much on taxes. Nobody has lifted a finger to stop them.

The Constitution gives people the tools. It’s just that nobody uses them.

No its a crappy idea. America is a free country. You don’t need to be forced into the military for social engineering. The military is designed for the protection of our country its not a re-education camp. Our volunteer military does a good job of protecting the US.

What needs to happen is a re-structuring of the US public school system and better parenting.

Those mass conscription programs turn out to nothing more than a massive gov jobs program. The personnel in such programs are nothing more than chaff, militarily speaking. In reality, they’re nothing more than a gimmick to futz with the unemployment numbers.

There’s also a serious rot and abuse that can come from such programs. Germany, for example, has mutated it’s mil draft into a public works. “Draftees” can now opt for all sorts of civilian jobs such as nursing home work and other such, rather than mil service, while on the gov dime. This is not at all good for the civilian industries inflicted with the no related skill having, zero motivation, under paid gov draftees.

Well, start by getting rid of public schools.

I’ve known lots of people from countries that have had mandatory service. Done right, I don’t think it’s that a bad deal.

Parenting does need major improvement too though. That’s assuming that the parents are patriotic and understand freedom.

Government schooling can't dish out the politically incorrect advice that parents desperately need. Private school teachers and principals can precisely because they are **private**.

I agree! Abolish government schooling.

Abolishment! That's what is needed.

Restructuring a government-run, cartel, price-fixed and socialist-entitlement K-12 monopoly won't make it less of a government-run, price-fixed, socialist-entitlement, and cartel, monopoly monstrosity.

I cannot argue with getting rid of public schools. As a former educator I have advocated for putting the school system in private hands for years. Private education companies can run the schools more efficiently and non politically than govt with better results. And the teachers unions will lose control.

It is comforting to know that there is at least one other person who understands the fundamental problem that underlies all government K-12 schooling.
