I don't know if one dissenting feminist speaking out against Caitlyn Jenner being Glamour's "woman" of the year is indicative of a civil war, I guess that just depends on how many agree with her and are willing to say so.
Germaine Greer, the 76-year-old author of “The Female Eunich,” is making waves by lambasting the idea that Caitlyn Jenner may be honored by Glamour Magazine as “Woman of the Year.” Jenner isn’t a woman, says Greer. He’s just attention-starved and seeking to steal the limelight from the women in the Kardashian family.Greer was more than verbally castigated. Speaking frankly and honestly has prompted the liberal "choir" to petition that she be barred from an upcoming speaking engagement at Cardiff University.He hasn’t actually had to endure what feminists depict as the true horrors of womanhood, such as being cursed with what Greer delicately characterizes as a “big, hairy, smelly vagina.”
When told that such comments are hurtful to the transgender community, Greer doubled down. “Try being an old woman. For goodness sake, people get hurt all the time, I’m not about to walk on eggshells.”
What she said was somewhat my reaction to Glamour's clearly pandering decision...once I decided to dignify it with thought.
Saying "the Jenner formerly known as Bruce" isn't really total a shot of sarcasm, it's meant to highlight how disingenuous the idea of being transgender can be for the patient, but especially for the rest of us.
I don't deny that some people really feel trapped in the wrong body with the wrong gender...but many of them just become Bronies. The rush to be "accepting" and conclude that the ONLY way to address feelings of "gender dysphoria" is to bend reality to their will is, has been, and will continue to be a societal elephant in the room.
Surely Greer doesn’t actually care whom Glamour magazine honors as woman of the year. (Aren’t old-school feminists supposed to object to such beauty-obsessed rags anyway?)As someone who has grown up coping with family members who have mental illness I can unequivocally say that biology is everything, even in psychology.Yet what happens when transgender women start competing against plain old women in other areas of life? Say, in tennis matches and swim meets?
Or how about for slots on corporate boards and in top universities looking to meet targets for gender balance? Feminists may find their cause stalled and themselves forced to acknowledge that biology plays a bigger role than they care to admit.
The truth of one's biology may be deniable, but it's always immutable. Nothing demonstrates this truth more than the fact that hormone "therapy" is part of the "solution" for people who transition to the other gender. When that treatment stops their body can and does revert back to its natural state (but it's not a mental disorder). Pointing this out would have people who support sex change label me as being "hateful" (they would be wrong, but that's irrelevant to them)...
What it wouldn't get me labeled is a liar, and that underscores how transgender supporters are truly disinterested in anything resembling truth.
For all of the left's ballyhooing about how everyone to their right is "anti-science" the level of faith they put in what is fashionable in science is the real anti-science.
In the end I don't care what Glamour does either, I don't read that rag and now I have more of a reason never to. Greer's main beef is that Jenner is receiving an award that is entirely unearned. Regardless of what you think about the transgender movement, THAT is pretty much true.
In any case, here's a good suggestion for how Jenner can start an acceptance speech...

Yea and Warhorse is a group of military men and women of Bronies. And they arent trannies. That was my point.
What I do not want to see is all of these mentally ill (or opportunistic) men pretending to be women and doing things that are typically reserved for women. Let’s face it, a basketball team made up of men pretending to be women and playing in the women’s league is going to trounce just about any real women’s team it faces. This “transgender” fad is a big step back for women’s equality.
When “transgender” men can pretend to be women and compete as women, there is no room for women in women’s sports any more.
(However, men competing in beauty contests are only going to win if they have blind judges. Men make for truly ugly women.)

Here’s my perspective on BRUCE Jenner and these “courage” awards.
The left is basically a primitive, ignorant autocratic society. And in keeping with that, they revere the mentally ill as specially blessed. i.e. the village idiot is treated with utmost reverence.
A society that champions mental illness and literally encourages it, while cheering and advocating surgical mutilation of mentally ill people is a very disturbed society. IMO, we have two societies. One society of the mentally ill (the left) and one of basic ordinary NORMAL people.
Unless Bruce Jenner has XX chromosomes (he doesn’t) he is a man with a mental illness who *thinks* he is a woman. The science on that matter is indeed settled.

Ummm...that's what razors and douche are for. It doesn't have to be hairy or smelly.
No matter how many times I see that picture I still laugh.
