Loves vegetables, does it?
Ash the greyhound and Jake the brown tabby used to turn up any time I cut up *anything*. It might be meat!
“Mao!” Jake would say, and then I’d look around to see Ash’s jaws at my elbow.

Mrs. Hugin used to call her dog a Golden Receiver because it didn’t retrieve much, but it sure liked to receive treats.

I have a chocolate lab and her job is to retrieve the newspaper from the driveway. When it’s minus 20 and the end of the driveway is 150 feet from the front door you really appreciate that kind of service.

Here's a question for the group...
physiologists have long noted the correlation between brain size and intelligence in animals. Chimps, apes, humans..as one example...Dolphins, and whales...as another...the bigger the brain, the more intelligence is displayed.
Then there's dogs...all breeds do the same basic things...yet a Great Dane has a brain 20x the size of, say a Yorkie...so why isn't there a far greater capacity for intelligent behavior in the larger breeds. What do they do with all those extra brain cells?
