I agree with you to an extent. But also consider that by supporting the schooling of kids that are not yours, you are nonetheless helping to insure that you will benefit from the professional services, such as police and healthcare, that the kids will eventually be providing for you, especially as you get older.
I am also single, no kids, but I make a point of what do the schools have to show for the dollars they are getting. I have another motive. I am retiring from engineering in a few years, and may go into teaching at one of the technical junior colleges here in Houston. Are the students heading my way filled with this dis functional common core “math”? I aced differential equations and I see pretzel logic.
