I’m Jewish, and I have studied the Holocaust extensively. It wouldn’t have stopped it, but it would have made a huge difference. At the least, the Germans would have had to devote substantial resources to it, making them lose the war more quickly...which, by itself, would have saved many Jews and others from being murdered.
Of course he is right. That’s why the reaction from the Left is so vociferous - because if you can successfully resist one of the most brutal and oppressive regimes in history with a few hundred thousand or a couple million guns in the hands of a despised minority, what kind of resistance could be put up by 400 million guns in the hands of a large percentage of the population?
These same people wanted to arm the slaves in the South because they know the slaves would have eventually freed themselves. But they refuse to admit the Jews could have kept themselves free for a long time had they been armed.
Of the millions who were killed in the camps, how many were from Germany and how many more were from Poland or the Soviet Union or France or any of the other countries under German control? I believe that the answer to that is the vast majority, and German gun control laws would not have made a difference for them.
