When you pit groups of people against other groups of people sooner rather than later nut cases will arise in the different groups that will try to make names for themselves. The blame for this rise is clearly tied to the Democrats, with Obama leading the charge for the last seven years, and very effectively I might add. Which is why we have seen the largest rise during his Presidency. His Presidency has been all about creating a fractured society, pitting as many varied groups against each other as we have never seen in this country before. United we stand , divided we fall, and that after all is Obama's true goal. That's why he supports Iran getting nuclear weapons, so their chants of "Death to America" can be realized at best, and a real possibility at the least.

Which stems directly from civil discourse having broken down. You can’t build up a political envionment based on using hateful PC labeling or soundbites to “win” on issues by bludgeoning your opposition into submission and silence and not have there also be a physically violent element to it.
