Boehner’s exit is not enough; we need to see some serious Republican mojo

Show us you're in the game.

In golf a par is good, but a birdie is better. In baseball a single, double or triple is good, but a home run is great! In football a first down, or a few first downs are good, but a touchdown is great.

Contrary to what some people think, it’s going to take more than Speaker John Boehner’s resignation for the Republicans in Congress to show their supporters some results. It doesn’t have to be a series of birdies, home runs, or touchdowns politically speaking. They just have to accomplish something that Main Street USA can appreciate and be optimistic about.

McConnell needs to be removed ASAP to show that the American people have had enough “change”

We need to see RESULTS, not talk.

All your going to get is talk from all the candidates except for Trump. Next to Trump is Cruz, but Cruz will be much slower in effective change than Trump. Trump has the mojo and as a real successful business man will act fast. Trump for President.

BINGO! Look how long he had power and I cannot think of one thing he did for conservatives. The same can be said about McConnell...neither has a spine for a fight with the Dems so they just cave in. They have no clue how to use power once it was given to them. For that reason, they should both be gone.

Actually moving the ball forward would be a great start. It doesn’t need to make it to the end zone, just down the field a few yards.

It looks like the Canadian press has it right.

We can’t rely on our own press always, though.

Well said! The Brent Spence Bridge across the Ohio River needs to be replaced and has needed to be replaced for a long time. McConnell and Boehner cannot get it done, and they are the “leaders” of the Senate and House!! They are both worthless pieces of excrement.

Removal was only the FIRST half of the equation, now it must be paired with replacement by a RELIABLE conservative, not a “stump speech conservative”, who gets elected for talking one way, and behaving in an entirely different manner once arriving in Foggy Bottom.

Potomac Fever is a very contagious disease, and probably one of the hardest to treat.

What we need is a conservative speaker, not this McCarthy guy.

Even our Progressive GOP governor has managed to get the new bridge over the Detroit river started and he’s even got Canada paying the total cost.

When Obama offered $250 million of the cost (with $100 million going to union pension funds) Snyder said no thank you to the strings attached money.

Definitely true. The current top of the list is another RINO, but that’s the current GOP establishment talking again. They better catch on soon or they will be out of a job.

America needs House and Senate leaders who understand that their primary duty is to honor their individual oaths to protect the Constitution of the United States, as its principles and ideas were adequately explained in the 85 essays known as THE FEDERALIST.

John Boehner expressed a different reason for his motivation last week.

John Adams' son, John Quincy, was 9 when the Declaration of Independence was written, 20 when the Constitution was framed, and from his teen years, served in various capacities in both the Legislative and Executive branches of the government, including as President of the U. S..

Adams was in his seat in the Congress when death approached. His words on this subject should be instructive on the subject at hand.

In 1839, he was invited by the New York Historical Society to deliver the "Jubilee" Address honoring the 50th Anniversary of the Inauguration of George Washington. He delivered that lengthy discourse which should be read by all who love liberty, for it traced the history of the development of the ideas underlying and the actions leading to the establishment of the Constitution which structured the United States government. His 50th-year summation seems to be a better source for understanding the kind of government the Founders formed than those of recent historians and politicians. He addresses the ideas of "democracy" and "republic" throughout, but here are some of his concluding remarks:

"Every change of a President of the United States, has exhibited some variety of policy from that of his predecessor. In more than one case, the change has extended to political and even to moral principle; but the policy of the country has been fashioned far more by the influences of public opinion, and the prevailing humors in the two Houses of Congress, than by the judgment, the will, or the principles of the President of the United States. The President himself is no more than a representative of public opinion at the time of his election; and as public opinion is subject to great and frequent fluctuations, he must accommodate his policy to them; or the people will speedily give him a successor; or either House of Congress will effectually control his power. It is thus, and in no other sense that the Constitution of the United States is democratic - for the government of our country, instead of a Democracy the most simple, is the most complicated government on the face of the globe. From the immense extent of our territory, the difference of manners, habits, opinions, and above all, the clashing interests of the North, South, East, and West, public opinion formed by the combination of numerous aggregates, becomes itself a problem of compound arithmetic, which nothing but the result of the popular elections can solve." - John Quincy Adams, Excerpt, "Jubilee" Address)

The presidency has changed since Mr. Adams’ address in 1839. It is now an imperial presidency that has great powers to shape public opinion. And our congress has abdicated its responsibilities and become a rubber stamp. Members just want the job; they don’t want to DO the job.

The government controls nearly every aspect of our lives. It is a massive institution that has grown way beyond what any of the Founding Fathers could ever have imagined. It is a juggernaut driven by the governing elites.

This is not your grandfather’s government. It does not respond to the will of the people. It has bought passive consent of the people with debt, money printing and taxes. It primarily serves the moneyed interests that grease the wheels of the political campaign machines.

The “most complicated government” also provides a nice cover for corruption, malfeasance, and waste. The government is far too complicated and complex in my opinion.

Sticking with that analogy, I think we conservatives need a long drive with many first downs along the way....then a touch down. That would be a good start.

It has taken decades to get here. We will not solve the GOP problems, let alone the country’s, by canning JB and MM. We need another round or two of improvements in both houses and an 8 year stretch in the WH where the right things GET DONE.

lots of first downs...
lots of long drives....
lots of touch downs.

Repeat....repeatedly.
