I just clear my ears on the surface, and I’m good to about 15’. You don’t need to go deeper than you want to go. The board won’t drag you down, you are in control, you are setting the angle and the depth.
With tanks, you might qualify as a sea anchor with the drag you'd create.

I have a provisional patent on it, in case it goes viral or something. But anybody can make one from a chunk of scrap plywood. It’s not rocket surgery.
I was wondering if they’d bite me or head-slam me like a shark on Flipper. I was glad to learn that they seemed to like me, or at least be curious about me. They were very rough with each other, pushing each other around like ice hockey players, but they never touched me.
There is a $300+ device called a “Subwing” that has wings and hinges and multiple lines, that is inferior in every way to a basic plywood one-piece balanced dive plane, where the tow line is pulling from just ahead of the gripping edges. The Subwing guys just didn’t get it, and still don’t.

No real need for tanks, since you are always less than 30’ deep and can surface anytime you want a breath.

Anybody who is worried about sharks should stay locked inside of a house. They would miss a lot, though.

If the human lets go of the dive plane, the board dives like you wouldn’t believe, and stabilizes at about a 45* down angle.
Quite a sea anchor. You have to stop the boat to pull it back in.
Anyone with a boat and clear water can enjoy this. Of course, it helps to have a rather nice steel cutter to do it. :) At 3 knots the fun never stops.
