Yeah, a personal relationship with Christ might tend to turn one off to all the liturgy and pomp of the Holy Roman Church. A personal relationship kind of obviates the whole basis of the Catholic Church with its emphasis on priests acting as intermediaries between Christians and God.
I can imagine Yeshua wearing all that garb. But then, not really. Why doesn’t the pope wear a simple robe since he’s all about getting down with the people.
In general, with the exception of a few Saints given direct experience of Jesus during their lifetime, independent personal “relationships” with Jesus are as real as unicorns and chupacabras (which means they ain’t — figments of imagination or diabolic impersonation).
