When I first looked at his "clock" I noticed immediately the big glob of plastic on the back of the circuit board. I said to myself, "he didn't build a clock. He simply put a pre-built clock module into a case.

And in return, he gets thousands of dollars of free merchandise from Microsoft, offers to visit Google and Facebook headquarters, and an invitation to attend MIT when he graduates high school. Not bad - who knew that was all it took?

Sad part is, somebody at Google, MIT, Microsoft, and Facebook no doubt immediately recognized the hoax...but went along anyway.
