The article said he died yesterday morning. It wouldn’t have taken 24 hours for it to be picked up by another source.
Having worked at a mental hospital years ago, it was policy not to announce the death of an inmate until family was notified. Oftentimes, family was hard to reach or refused to answer the phone when we called. It was also their prerogative to deny announcement.
I’m not saying that this is the case. I’m make the case for the delay.
