Is Rush Promoting Trump to Build up his Sagging Audience?
September 4, 2015 | Vanity

Posted on 09/05/2015 4:15:09 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

I've been trying to figure out why Rush is doing daily Trump clean up exercises (latest was his Friday deconstruction and then reframing of Trump's less than stellar performance on Hugh Hewitt's show), along with his breathless cheerleading; it's not the Rush Limbaugh Show anymore, it has become the The Donald Show.

Then this morning I read that Megachurch Pastor Paula White has married her 3rd husband (she's his 4th) = 6 marriages. I'd looked her up because she's a good friend of Donald Trump (promotes his books and he promotes her) who is going to arrange a sit down with Trump and other evangelical leaders.

So, it dawns on me this is a mutual promotion society we're watching.

Limbaugh's EIB audience (reportedly) has been shrinking recently, so what better way to build it back up with some new blood than by jumping on the Trump wave?

Trump tweets that Rush is talking about him and Rush reports that Trump is tweeting about him and they're off to the piggy bank races.

As a big Walker fan, your comment is spot on.

They are human.

You can or will find something wrong with EVERY candidate, guaranteed.

You see it every day on Free Republic.

The level of vetting here is undreamed of in the real world.

But as long as we are in this fallen world, we support the one who we believe will get the job done.

Having been involved in the construction of very large structures, I know what it takes to make something out of a set of plans.

Morons and ineffective executives cannot do it.

You’re just peeved because Walker is tanking. So are posting something to subtly attack Trump. Rush has always covered primary candidates and has talked about those leading more than the others. So he’s not discussing Walker much, sorry.

"The only thing I am not in agreement with Trump is that he said that the Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage is the law of the land."

That my friend is a very serious mistake by Trump. He really needs to walk that back and quickly. "Gay rights" is one of the main tools used in the War on Christians, abortion is the other and Trump is weak on both. While I agree immigration is issue number one, the war on Christians is a close second for me and number one for lots of social conservatives. Whoever is advising Trump on the Kim Davis, gay rights, Supreme Court, War on Christians issue(s) is doing Trump a disservice.

Giving a candidate money does not equate to support but it does give you leverage when favor’s are needed. I gave money to both parties during our local election’s yet I only supported one side. Just because I support someone doesn’t mean they’ll win but them taking my money does mean they owe me. I really don’t understand why this is so hard for some to understand.

Amen, Brother. I still listen everyday but sometimes he is hard to take. He’s holding something back. He admitted this week that Trump isn’t and never has been a Conservative. I think he has a personal beef with Jeb and thinks Trump is the one to force him from the race.

You clowns slamming Walker forget that Walker has advanced more Conservative principles than any other single candidate. He isn’t my first choice but he is a damn sight better than Trump.

This is a worthy thread and a good discussion.

I think the ratings thing is a big deal with Rush. That said, Rush isn’t the cause of Trump but rather a symptom.

Love Rush and was with him back in the beginning in 1988. BUT for much of the last 20 years I haven’t listened except during times of crisis or at key political points in US elections.

For the past month I now make it a point to hear the first hour of Rush’s show simply to hear his takes on Trump and how conventional media is covering Trump. Frankly I can’t get enough of it at the moment.

Rush is doing what he has always done. Serve his listeners.

When Rush started, he made a point of saying that he didn’t party with the wealthy and powerful. That inevitably changed with his success.

Now he admits up front that he’s not going to criticize Marco Rubio (for one example) because the two of them are buddies.

Success breeds ‘normalcy bias’.

It’s too early really. I’m not excited about Trump’s morality any more than I use Rush for an example in the marriage arena. I don’t listen to many of those preachers on tv. So far, I think Cruz is okay; but it seems like most all of them throw a few curve balls that raise concerns. Dr. Carson seems okay & not a member of the good ol’ boy network as far as I know.

Perhaps he's trying to pay for his past sins of supporting NAFTA, GATT, 'free trade' and support of the GOP no matter what, and his lack of concern for illegal immigration years ago.

I haven’t listened to Rush in, I don’t know, maybe six weeks...possibly more. He was going full-bore fan with Trump even then.

Two things made me turn him off. The first was when a guy called up with legitimate concerns about Trump’s liberal record. Rush openly mocked him and refused to even address those concerns. He never did that with Romney, McCain, etc.

The second was when Rush stopped talking about the need for a conservative president and said one day that all we need to worry about is beating Democrats. I knew then where he was going.

Anybody got a link that shows this ratings decline for Rush? This is the first I’ve heard that his ratings are sagging.

I don’t have any data to reference, but the quality of his advertisers is way off, which at least implies he’s having problems there.

One of the most annoying examples is those Huckabee diabetes cure commercials.

“The point is—there is no perfect candidate.”

Lol, don’t try to tell that to the “prou”American perfectionest Freepers.

For thesevfools if a candidate does not check off EVERY BOX for what makes the PERFECT Conservative they will simply stay home thereby actually handing a vote to the Liberals. The would rather see the country fall than compromise their oh so self righteous ideals.

As*holes every f’n one of them.
